WFI installs new leadership at fall conference in Tomah
During its annual Fall Conference, the Wisconsin Fabricare Institute announced its leadership changes for the upcoming term. There were some old familiar names on the list, as well as a few new ones.
Taking over as the association’s president will be Sue Doolin of Packard Way Cleaners in Cudahy. She was given the presidential gavel from Arlene Tutkowski of National One Hour Cleaners in Oak Creek, who will now serve WFI on the board in the capacity of past president.
All of the other officer positions for the coming term were filled by Richard Kline of Kline Cleaners in Madison. He was elected to serve as vice president, treasurer and secretary.
WFI’s board also saw some turnaround when directors Tom McKay of Avenue Fabricare and Doug Berry of BMP Cleaners, Inc, both fulfilled their terms.
Joining the board in their stead were Sandy Mielke and Robert Keene. They were joined by Dennis Schmitt, a past president for the association.
Mielke is the owner of Quick Cleaners and Laundry, Inc. in Oconomowoc. She has been working in the drycleaning industry for nearly two decades, starting off as a presser for a One Hour Martinizing store owned by Charlie Case.
She worked her way up to a managerial position and later was employed at Fabricare. She purchased her own store in 1997 and has since expanded it to include two satellite locations in Hartford and Waukesha.
Keene, a plant supervisor for Band Box, has worked at his brother’s company since 1959, Prior to that, he was in the U.S. Navy. He earned a certificate for attending the Textile Rental Services Production Management Institute at Texas Woman’s University in 1996, and was the recipient of a 40-year member award from TRSA in 1999.
He also serves on the City of Tomah Housing Authority and City Cemetery Board and is a lay leader at Tomah Methodist Church. In his spare time, he works as the area driver representative for children under treatment at Shriner Hospital.
