NCA to offer several educational programs throughout 2005
During 2005, the National Cleaners Association will give drycleaners several opportunities to obtain more education and achieve professional certification at its New York School of Drycleaning.
The school is located at 252 W. 29th St. (29th St. at 8th Ave.) in New York, NY.
On Sunday, February 27, the association will host day one of two for a New York Department of Environmental Conservation certification class, which resumes on March 6.
On each day, cleaners will meet from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. The overall cost for members is $509 each; non-members pay $975 each.
NCA will offer additional opportunities throughout the year for cleaners seeking to take the two-day NY DEC certification course. Other upcoming 2005 class dates include: March 13 and 20; April 17 and 24; May 15 and 22; July 17 and 24; August 7 and 14; September 18 and 25; November 6 and 13; and also November 13 and 20.
On March 13, NCA will host an eight-hour course on “Extreme Stain Removal” that meets from 8: 30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Members each pay $250; non-members each pay $275.
In the following month, the association will offer its popular five-day intensive drycleaning and stain removal course, which begins on Monday, April 4. Class will be in session from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. every day of the week, Monday through Friday, for 40 hours altogether. Tuition is $750 for members and $995 for non-members.
The same course will also be available later in the year during the weeks of July 11-15 and August 15-19.
NCA will be offering its ten-week, 80-hour comprehensive course on the “Principles and Practices of Drycleaning” four times in 2005: twice in English and twice in Korean.
The English course will meet from 7 to 11 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning on May 23 and October 17. Cost for the course is $970 per student.
The course will also be taught in Korean on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 11 p.m. beginning on April 5 and October 4.
Members pay $970 each; non-members must pay $1,170 each.
Customer service representatives will want to take advantage of a one-day, eight-hour course on April 17 entitled “Technical Training at the Counter.” It begins at 8:30 a.m. Members pay $250 each; non-members pay $275.
Also in April, NCA will present its first 2005 session of its four-week “Principles and Practices of Pressing” course that meets from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Tuition is $380. Another offering of the course starts on September 6.
On Sunday, June 12, an eight-hour course on inspecting and packaging garments will be in session from 8: 30 a.m. until 5 p.m. The cost is $250 for members and $275 for non-members.
During the week of August 22-26, “Managing for the Millennium” will meet each day from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. for a total of 40 hours. Member students pay $750 each; non-members pay $995 each.
Rounding out the programs for the year will be an eight-hour course on wetcleaning scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 30 from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. The course is $250 for members and $275 for non-members.
