Restoration cleaners offer claims training
The Alliance of Professional Restoration Drycleaners, a non-profit organization comprised of restoration drycleaners in the United States, has developed and is offering a continuing education program to educate insurance claims professionals on the garment restoration process.
APRD said that an independent survey showed that insurance companies have not conducted this type of education at any level. The lack of understanding of one of the largest portions of a typical homeowner’s claim can lead to a significant loss of time and dollars, APRD said.
“The knowledge gap creates an obstacle to effective administration of claims,” said Mike Lees, executive vice president of APRD. “This void can make claims more costly for insurance companies, contractors and homeowners.
“Clothing and soft goods can be the largest cumulative item in a claim,” Lees said. “However, fabric restoration training is often overlooked. By better understanding the garment restoration process, significant improvements of key customer service drivers can be achieved.”
The curriculum, which concentrates on garment restoration, is designed to help adjusters, contractors, insurance agents and others involved in the claims process reduce claims costs, increase satisfaction of insureds and better manage claims leakage.
The curriculum provides a general overview of restoration drycleaning and details the cost savings that can be realized through professional fabric restoration. It also offers information claims professionals need to know to accurately and cost effectively manage a claim.
APRD is comprised of restoration drycleaners in major markets throughout the United States. For locations of APRD members, call (800) 540-APRD
