TCATA ready to convene in style
As luxury resorts go, it’s hard to imagine many more spectacular than the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass, located in Scottsdale, AZ, and site of the Textile Care and Allied Trades Association convention from April 27 to 30.
With more than 500 rooms, the resort was designed to be a representation of the Gila River Indian Community’s heritage and culture. The architecture, art and legends of the Pima (Akimel O’otham) and Maricopa (Pee Posh) tribes are celebrated in fine detail both inside and out.
The resort also has two 18-hole golf courses, a 17,500-sq.-ft. spa with 17 treatment rooms, the Koli Equestrian Center for riding lessons, and four pools with cascading waterfalls and a 111-foot waterslide modeling the ancient Casa Grande Ruins.
In addition to enjoying the resort, attendees will participate in several business programs.
On Sunday, April 30, from 8 a.m. until noon the topic of face reading will be explored, posing the question: what if you could gain valuable insight into a customer’s or employee’s thinking just by looking at their face?
Nationally-known face reading speaker and consultant Mac Fulfer will divulge some of the secrets and tricks he has used to help the FBI and state attorneys general. He will show attendees how to read another person’s face in order to determine key personality traits, their level of stress, how they tend to view the world, and a variety of other important and useful bits of information.
Also speaking at the conference from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday will be Dr. Bart Basi, a CPA, attorney and teacher who will discuss the importance of choosing a successor in business, whether it’s a family member, key employee or even an outsider. Dr. Basi will  look at the whole succession process, from estate planning to constructing buy/sell agreements.
He will make himself available for individual consultation throughout the convention, as well.
Speaker and trainer Alan Buhler is another scheduled speaker set to speak from 9 a.m. until noon on Friday. He will offer up specific techniques and tools designed to help motivate a company’s entire sales staff by rewarding certain behaviors, unlike many other incentive programs that often only seem to focus on the top salespeople.
TCATA’s conference will begin on Wednesday with a board meeting planned from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Afterward, the association will host its reception for first-timers at 6 p.m. and an opening reception at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s golf tournament has an 8 a.m. shotgun start planned on the morning of Thursday, April 28 at the Whirlwind Golf Club. Those who wish to participate must register by April 18 and pay a fee of $165 per player, which includes the greens/cart fee, a continental breakfast and prizes.
The tournament will follow a four-person scramble format.
Friday will start with distributor and manufacturer meetings from 7:30 to 9 a.m. There will be a dessert reception that evening from 9:30 to 11 p.m. and a closing reception and party on the following night from 7 to 11 p.m.
For hotel reservations, call the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass, (602) 225-0100.
Registration for the conference is $675 per member and $320 for a spouse.
