IFI plans outreach seminars in Mississippi, Oklahoma
The International Fabricare Institute will present two sessions covering the topics of customer service and problem garments in the southwest region of the U.S. as part of its outreach seminar program.
The first will be held on Tuesday, June 14, in Jackson, Mississippi. IFI will repeat the seminar on Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In addition to providing attendees tips on how to deal with some of the latest problem garments to hit the industry, IFI will examine how customer service representatives should talk to customers about their expectations and potential cleaning problems. Cleaners will gain an overall better understanding of how to handle difficult situations at the front counter.
Cost for each seminar is $99 for the first registrant from a member plant and $89 for each additional one. The first non-member from a plant must pay $129; each additional non-member from that plant pays $119.

Royaltone offers leather cleaning sessions
Drycleaners wanting to hone their leather and suede cleaning skills will have three opportunities in 2005 at the Royaltone Leather Cleaning Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Emphasizing both classroom instruction and hands-on training, school founder Frank Lucenta and his staff will help plant owners and managers learn how to clean suedes and leathers efficiently, and, more importantly, profitably.
The schedule of upcoming two-day sessions includes the following dates: May 12-13, Sept. 15-16, , and Nov. 10-11.
From 8:30 to 11 a.m. on the first day of class, attendees will cover a variety of topics, such as: the tanning process; identification of skins and peculiarities of suedes and leathers; acceptance techniques; spotting tips for drycleaning; machine configurations; and pressing and forming.
An afternoon session will meet from noon to 3:30 p.m. on the same day. Attendees will learn about wetcleaning methods; spray finishing; restoring luster and color; and water repellency and sizing. A final exam will be given at the end of the day.
The second day of studies will be devoted to in-plant hands-on training where students can apply all of the techniques they learned on the previous day.
The cost for the program is $400 per person; additional discounts are available for multiple attendees.
The Royaltone Academy is limited to accepting only seven plant managers or owners per session. To enroll, call (800) 331-5506 or (918) 622-6677, or e-mail frank@royaltone.com.
Cleaners who sign up will receive a class book and help with securing reservations at a local hotel near the Suedemate plant.
Royaltone also offers a correspondence course on suede and leather cleaning which consists of two segments. The first focuses on the identification and handling of suede and leather; the second covers how to spot, clean and finish leather, suede and fur.
The home study program allows cleaners to learn the cleaning process in their own plants. Enrollment is $200 per person.
