CCA releases 2005 educational schedule
for Los Angeles, Stockton
Even the busiest of cleaners can take an occasional Saturday off from the trenches if it affords an opportunity to improve on their drycleaning skills.
There will be a few chances for them to do that this year since the California Cleaners Association will present some Saturday seminars as part of the curriculum for its Cleaning Science Instruction school.
Sessions will be held in both the northern and southern regions of the state — Stockton and Los Angeles — so those from all over the state may attend.
Cleaners in the Los Angeles area can choose from four classes that will be held at Perfect Cleaners, located at 10531 W. Pico Blvd.
On June 4, the plant will host an educational offering on “Customer Service.”
Other upcoming seminars include: Basic Spotting on Sept. 17; Advanced Stain Removal on Oct. 1; and Pressing and Finishing on Nov. 19.
The same four classes will be offered in the northern part of the state at Stockton Cleaners on different dates.
That schedule will be as follows: Customer Service on June 11; Basic Spotting on Sept. 10; Advanced Stain Removal on Oct. 8; and Pressing and Finishing on Nov. 12.
Each class meets from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. All sessions that do not meet CCA’s minimum requirements of students may be subject to cancellation.
The cost to attend is $75 per CCA member and $125 per non-member.
Discounted registration rates are also available for CCA members who send two or more employees from their plant to the same class.
A registration form is available in PDF format on CCA’s web site, located at www.calcleaners.com. Click on the “Drycleaners” link on the home page to obtain access into the Members’ section, then select the “Education” link.
Upon printing out and completing the form, cleaners can send it in along with payment to the CCA Office at: 2520 Venture Oaks Way, #150, Sacramento, CA 95833; or fax with credit card information to (916) 924-7323.

Wetcleaning seminar set for June 11
The Rocky Mountain Fabricare Association will help wetcleaners who may feel a little wet behind the ears with a seminar set from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11.
It will be held at Caliber Cleaners in Longmont, Colorado, located at 117 S. Sunset, Unit C.
Presented by Roland Dobbins, the session will include a discussion of professional wetcleaning and finishing techniques, as well as a look at the differences between wetcleaning and drycleaning. Additionally, the class’s hands-on training will cover methods of sorting, spotting, cleaning and finishing, including hand washing and soaking.
Members who sign up prior to June 1 pay only $99 to attend; non-members pay $129 each.
However, after that date, the price goes up to $119 for members and $149 for non-members.
For more information, call (303) 433-4446 or visit RMFA’s web site at www.rmfa.org.
On the site, a registration form is available for attendees. Once completed, it can be returned to: 11166 Huron St., Unit 27, Denver, Colorado, 80234. All checks should be made payable to: RMFA.
