TRSA, UTSA plan merger
The Textile Rental
Services Association and the Uniform and Textile Service Association have agreed in concept to merge into a
single association as of Jan. 1, 2006.
Both associations are engaged
predominantly in providing commercial, industrial and
institutional accounts with laundered uniforms, linens,
walk-off mats and other workplace textiles through rental
agreements. Associate members sell services, equipment or
supplies to textile service members.
Jim Buik, current chairman of UTSA, will
serve as chairman of the new group. Michael Potack,
chairman-elect of TRSA, will serve as vice chairman; Douglas
(Woody) Ostrow, treasurer of TRSA will be treasurer; and Kevin
Crotty, UTSA vice chairman, will be secretary.
The plan of consolidation will be
submitted to the respective boards of directors and to the
membership of both associations for formal approval after
completion of mutual due diligence evaluations of financial
structure and operation.
The two groups have worked together on
various association issues over the years, according to Buik
and David Rawlinson, chairman of the TRSA board. They commended
the work of David Hobson, president of UTSA, and Roger
Cocivera, president of TRSA, in helping the associations reach
the decision. Both have been invited to apply for the position
of CEO and president of the new association.
Firbimatic/Eco Dry of America has appointed Darrin Haiges as its
executive vice president.
Haiges has been with Firbimatic/EDA for
the past five years as the national sales manager.
In his new position he will be
responsible for the day-to-day operations, sales strategies,
importing of machines and overseeing Firbimatic’s dealer
network.
ASN show draws laundry owners
ASN Laundry Group’s “Show of
Shows” at the Holiday Inn in Fort Washington, PA, drew
laundry owners from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York for
business seminars, service schools and exhibits of equipment
and supplies from major manufacturers.
“How to Increase the Profitability
of Your Laundromat” was the topic of a seminar conducted
by Brian Wallace, president and CEO of the Coin Laundry
Association (CLA). ASN Laundry Group executives supplemented
this presentation with open discussions of factors affecting
laundry operation, including site selection, store planning and
layout, demographic analysis, financing, marketing, equipment
selection and other components.
Maintenance of equipment was demonstrated
in service schools conducted by Tracy Mummert, service manager
of IPSO USA and Steve Silva of ADC.
Arrow Parts, a subsidiary of ASN Laundry
Group, offered show discounts on parts for many brands of
laundry equipment.
In keeping with its “Show of
Shows” theme, ASN Laundry Group had a drawing for theater
tickets. The winner was Emmanuel Emore.
The company recently redesigned its web
site to serve as a resource for coin laundry owners and
investors. The website address is www.asnlaundrygroup.com.
ASN Laundry Group serves New York, New
Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania.
