PDCA to present two September seminars
Drycleaners who are turning away work are turning away money. Every time a plant employee has to say “no” to a customer garment, profits ultimately suffer as a result.
In September, the Pennsylvania and Delaware Cleaners Association seeks to help drycleaners pump up more profits in their plants by enlisting the aid of industry expert Fran Sadler for two sessions of a seminar entitled “Make Money on Work You Turn Away Now.”
Sadler, who has earned both CED and CPD designations, has long been a drycleaning consultant helping plant employees and business owners all over the country. She is an award-winning Dale Carnegie graduate and a second generation cleaner, as well.
In her seminars, she will show attendees how it is possible to accept work that they thought was too tricky or difficult and handle it properly, thus adding new revenue streams for their company.
The first session will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the Holiday Inn Select University Center in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, PA. It will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The second seminar is planned for Thursday, Sept. 15 at Leeds Restaurant, located at 750 Eisenhower Blvd. in Harrisburg. It will also start promptly at 7:30 p.m.
Each seminar will cost $35 per member to attend. Non-members must pay $65 each.
Also on tap for PDCA in September is the association’s board of directors meeting, which will be held on the 11th at Sea Esta III in Dewey Beach, DE.
Another board of directors meeting is planned late in the year on Dec. 4 at the Harrisburg Wyndham.

MAC offers free online registration
As the MidAtlantic Association of Cleaner’s October convention approaches, cleaners still have time to take advantage of the free online registration offered by the association.
The event is scheduled to take place from Oct. 28-30 at the Dulles Expo and Conference Center in Chantilly, Virginia.
This year’s convention’s headquarters hotel — the Holiday Inn Select — is very convenient as it is located adjacent to the conference center.
The hotel is offering a special guest rate of $109 per night for those who call (703) 815-6060 for reservations and mention the CleaningExpo Live Showcase block of rooms.
Attendees may also book rooms online by visiting www.hiselect.com/chantillyexpo and entering Group Code B98.
Cleaners will be able to walk up and down the exhibition hall aisles from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30.
The exhibit hall will also be open for invited guests from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 28.
A few dozen companies have already registered to exhibit at the convention.
A complete list is available by visiting the official CleaningExpo Live web site.
Cleaners may also visit the web site to register for free by clicking on a link from the home page.
Registration is also available by calling (540) 775-2525.
