RMFA plans seminars on accepting leather cleaning
Cleaners who work closely with their leather care professional and take time to educate their counter staff and customers will find that leather cleaning can be a highly profitable, big ticket item for their plant.
For those in the industry interested in accomplishing such a feat, the Rocky Mountain Fabricare Association will be hosting two upcoming customer service seminars on “Understanding Leather.”
The first one is set to take place on Thursday, Sept. 29 at Mendenhall Equipment at 880 W. 100 N. in Salt Lake City, Utah. It will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Instructors Richard Reese of LeatherCare in Salt Lake City and Jim Orlin of Front Range LeatherCare in Denver will discuss leather acceptance procedures at length, helping salespeople better understand things such as leather garment construction, cleaning methods, and how to explain leather cleaning to the customer.
“These seminars will provide basic information in the simplest language possible,” Reese said. “The seminars will not cover the actual cleaning procedures. The focus will be on imparting information to your counter personnel which will enable them to understand what to expect and not expect from leather cleaning and processing.”
Knowing customer expectations and having an awareness of the cleaning process is a key to making satisfying customers.
Enrollment for the course costs $20 for the first two members from the same plant and only $10 for each additional member plant attendee after that. Non-members must pay $25 each.
The same seminar will be repeated on Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Holiday Inn Denver Central located at 4849 Bannock St.
