MAC’s CleaningExpo set to take place Oct. 28-30
 AMore than 50 companies will be represented at the MidAtlantic Association of Cleaner’s upcoming CleaningExpo Live Showcase in October, and that number could contiue to increase as the show dates approach.
 The event is scheduled to run from Oct. 28-30 at the Dulles Expo and Conference Center, located about 26 miles from Washington, D.C. in the heart of Northern Virginia’s high-tech corridor on Route 28, between I-66 and the Dulles Toll Road in Fairfax County, VA.
 Cleaners will be able to visit the dozens of exhibit booths in the main hall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30.
 The exhibit hall will also be open to invited guests only on Friday, Oct. 28 from 4 to 8 p.m.
 MAC is offering free registration for the convention online. Cleaners simply have to visit www.cleaningexpo.com and click on the appropriate link on the main page.
 Also online is a complete list of the exhibitors who are planning on attending the show.
 This year’s headquarters hotel for the convention is the Holiday Inn Select, conveniently located adjacent to the Dulles Expo and Conference Center.

Two classes in October at IFI HQ
 Cleaners still have an opportunity to take “Introduction to Drycleaning” and “Advanced Drycleaning” courses this year at the International Fabricare Institute’s school, headquartered in Silver Spring, MD.
 All courses at IFI’s school are accredited through the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
 From Oct. 17-21, IFI will host its “Introduction to Drycleaning” course designed to help those who are new to the industry, including employees and managers with less than one year of experience.
 The basic course covers the following topics: fibers and fabrics; workflow; the principles of the drycleaning process; assembly and invoicing; the drycleaning machine; cleaning and drying cycles; elementary stain removal; and finishing procedures for pants, coats and skirts.
 Tuition is $450 for members and $695 for non-members.
 IFI will host an advanced drycleaning course from Oct. 24 through Nov. 4. The two-week course is for cleaners who have completed the introductory course or have more than one year of production experience.
 Topics include: specialty fabrics and fiber identification; advanced stain removal procedures and bleaches; finishing blouses, dresses, ties, all -weather coats, pleats, pile fabrics, silks, and rayon; wetcleaning; troubleshooting the dry cleaning system; regulations and care labeling; customer service; and business management.
 The cost is $900 for members and $1,390 for non-members.
