East Coast School hosts two October courses in Florida
Many garment problems slip by at the front counter unnoticed, causing cleaners a few headaches down the road.
However, if a counter employee knows how to properly inspect the clothes as they come in, then those headaches will certainly decrease.
On Saturday, Oct. 8, the East Coast School of Dry Cleaning will cover the topic of front counter garment inspection with an emphasis on how to use a “spectralight” to detect stains and problem fabrics more easily.
The course, taught by instructor Dan Eisen, will be held at the school’s facilities located at 1965 West 9th Street in Riviera Beach, FL.
Students will also learn about the most effective communication techniques for interacting with customers, how to upsell, and how to communicate with customers about their garments. Eisen will also discuss fabric and stain identification, as well as the roles and responsibilities of the people at the counter.
Next up for the school will be a wetcleaning course on Saturday, Oct. 22, which will be taught by Eisen along with Rick Watson.
Both men will discuss the proper use of wetcleaning chemicals to clean wools, silks and other fabrics safely.
The class will also cover the proper use of chemicals to set dyes, soften fabrics and prevent shrinkage.
Additionally, cleaners will learn about the proper programming of wetcleaning equipment, the sales aspects of wetcleaning, wetcleaning production procedures and technologies, and garment compatibility.
Each course will cost $250 per person.
