East Coast School announces November, December classes
Four more classes have been announced for the East Coast School of Dry Cleaning for the months of November and December.
Located at 1965 West 9th Street in Riviera Beach, FL, the school’s facilities offers hands-on training by experienced industry experts.
On Saturday, Nov. 5, instructors Steve Jennings and Rayner Canedo will offer a course entitled “Introduction to Basic Spotting.”
The class is ideally suited for people who have just entered the drycleaning industry or who simply want to update their spotting skills.
An “Advanced Silk Spotting” class will be offered later in the month on Saturday, Nov. 19.
Instructor Dan Eisen will discuss handling high end garments and the proper use of bleach, as well as a variety of other topics such as the correction of dye bleeding, fluorescent dye breakdown and the removal of difficult stains.
The school will host two additional classes in December, as well, starting with a “Counter Training” class on Saturday, Dec. 3, which will also taught by Eisen with additional help from Steve Jennings.
Both men will explain how to properly inspect for problem garments at the front counter using a “spectralight” in the detection of stains and problem fabrics.
Finally, on Saturday, Dec. 10, instructors Eisen and Canedo will be back in the classroom once again to offer tips on wetcleaning, including the proper use of wetcleaning chemicals to clean wools, silks and other fabrics safely.
Students will also learn the proper use of chemicals to set dyes, soften fabrics and prevent shrinkage, as well as how to properly program wetcleaning equipment.

TFA elects new officers
The Tennessee Fabricare Association has installed its new officers and directors.
Taking over the presidential gavel will be Gary Randles of Pinecrest Cleaners in Greenville, TN.
Moving over to the position of past president will be Jack Scharff, who hails from Kraus Model Cleaners in Memphis.
Rick Moody of Nu Look Cleaners & Laundry in Paris, TN, will now serve as president-elect and Linda Say of Nicholson Cleaners in Nashville will be treasurer.
Comprising the remainder of the board will be: John Holt of Phenix Supply Co. in Nashville; Jin Kim of Executive Cleaners in Knoxville; Bob Percer of Millington Laundry & Cleaners in Millington; and Wade Elam of Hendersonville.
Debbie Lowenthal is the association’s executive director.
