Energy efficient dryers
Maytagdryer.jpg
NEWTON, IA — The new Maytag Commercial Laundry Energy Advantage On-Premises Drying Tumblers are designed to benefit operators by saving up to 23 percent on energy costs and benefit employees with simple one-touch controls.
Available in 30-, 50- and 75-lb. capacities, the tumblers can efficiently dry bulky loads. The tempered glass door prevents heat from escaping the dryer. The dryer drum is designed with air holes in the back only, forcing heated air through the clothes to reduce drying time.
The tumblers come standard with microprocessor controls, allowing operators to pre-program drying times, temperature and cool-down to prevent overdrying. They also have the S.A.F.E. System to extinguish any potential dryer fires.
The tumblers were ergonomically designed to ensure employee safety. The lint tray is set higher to reduce bending, and the door swings fully open for ease of loading and during use the outside glass remains cool. Employees will appreciate the one-touch controls, countdown display and faster drying times. They also will spend less time ironing bed sheets and tablecloths because the reverse tumbler feature reduces twisting. The factory-installed risers provide operators the ability to adjust machine height and to accommodate various laundry room floors.

Rebates for energy efficiency
OAKLAND, CA — Commercial laundries and drycleaners that install high efficiency water heaters can receive rebates of up to $600 per hundred-thousand BTU (rated input) for qualifying new and retrofit installations through the end of 2005, or until funds run out.
LightWash is offering the rebates on a first-come, first-served basis up to a max of $60,000 per site. Applicants must be natural gas customers of PG&E to qualify.
The rebate program is also available to multi-family common area laundries, hospitals and other institutional facilities, hotels and motels and other businesses operating on-site laundry.
In its third year, the LightWash Rebate Program has helped lower utility bills for thousands of Northern California’s commercial laundry equipment owners. The program also provides rebates for high efficiency commercial clothes washers and low or no-cost energy efficient lighting retrofits for laundromats.
The program is funded by participating water utilities and by California utility ratepayers under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). California consumers are not obligated to purchase any full fee service or other service not funded by this program.

Collar and cuff treatment
TULSA, OK — Royaltone’s Ringo is a collar and cuff soil release additive that eliminates labor and harsh scrubbing of shirt collars and cuffs and the time-consuming hand spraying or squirting of collar solution and waiting for it to dry.

The company said Ringo will not affect color, will not wear out collars and cuffs and will not cause any undesirable side effects and is biodegradable, non-hazardous, odorless and contains no hazardous solvents, phosphates, bleach, alkalis, acids or ammonia.
One ounce of Ringo is used for every ten pounds of shirts. It can be added after the garments are loaded and before the wash cycle begins. The load is washed as usual using Ringo along with the same detergent and wash cycle as before..
