Wisconsin honors certified drycleaners
Wisconsin cleaners were recognized for
their work towards professional and environmentally friendly
drycleaning in Wisconsin’s Five Star Recognition Program
for drycleaners during a dinner as part of the the Wisconsin Fabricare
Institute’s fall conference.
One Hour Martinizing of Waukesha, Pilgrim
Cleaners of Madison, and Lindeman’s Cleaning, Inc. of
Green Bay, were honored under Wisconsin’s Five Star
Recognition Program for drycleaners.
A total of eight WFI members were honored
for completing their re-certification for WFI’s Certified
Professional Drycleaner (CPD) and/or Certified Environmental
Drycleaner (CED).
The three recipients from
Lindeman’s Cleaning, Inc. in Green Bay, WI were Dennis
Schmitt, CPD (5 Star Cleaner), Karen Swink, CPD and Tom Swink,
CPD.
Ami Schultz of Pilgrim Cleaners, Madison,
WI, received her CPD and CED.
The CPD and CED programs are courses
developed by the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Solid and
Hazardous Waste Education Center (SHWEC) through WFI. The CPD
course tests the drycleaner on the advanced fundamentals a
professional dry-cleaner should know and practice. The CED
tests drycleaners on the most common environmental safety and
health issues related to operating a drycleaning business in
Wisconsin.
Individuals working as drycleaners earn
certification by passing a closed-book written examination. CPD
and CED status are maintained through re-certification every
three years.
WFI’s CPD and CED certification
programs are a part of the association’s broader Five
Star Environmental Recognition Program for Drycleaners which is
sponsored by the WFI in cooperation with the Wisconsin
Department of Natural Resources, the Wisconsin Department of
Commerce and the University of Wisconsin-Extension Service.
Each level of the Five Star Environmental Recognition Program
requires additional requirements and levels of compliance.
