IFI to host Management and Marketing
Conference in Vegas
For plant owners and managers who feel
sometimes as if the deck is stacked against them, help is only
a shuffle away... in Las Vegas of all places.
On February 23 and 24, IFI will host its 2006 Management &
Marketing Conference at the MGM Grand. The event promises to be
very educational, providing new tricks for cleaners who wish to
make the most out of the cards they have been dealt.
It is also a perfect opportunity for
industry members to network and talk shop among their peers in
one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations.
Highlighting the conference will be
appearances by award-winning professional speaker John S.
Haskell (a.k.a. Dr. Revenue) and Kirstin Whitten, a leading
public relations speaker.
In addition to being a professional
speaker, Haskell has enjoyed success as an entrepreneur, an
experienced senior manager, a consultant and a writer. In 1974,
he founded The Professional Marketing Group Inc.
Over the years, he has delivered a unique
style of “in the trenches” consulting services to a
wide array of clients. With the moniker “Dr.
Revenue,” he has created tools and program to help
mid-sized and smaller companies develop solid, practical and
easy-to-implement marketing and sales plans.
As the result of his
“prescriptions,” many of Dr. Revenue’s
clients have reported exceptional sales and profit growth.
Whitten works at Tiffanie Williams &
Co., a public relations firm hired by the FabriCare Foundation
(FCF) to promote drycleaning.
At the conference, she’ll present
the plan for FCF’s national public relations campaign and
will show attendees what they can do with their own
plant’s public relations to get a boost from the national
effort.
IFI plans to feature more speakers who
will be announced at a later date. The association also
promises some interactive brainteasers at the conference
designed to get cleaners talking to each other and working with
their neighbors.
The cost of the conference is $489;
lodging and meals are additional. To register for the event,
contact IFI Registrar Susan Bale at (800) 638-2627, Ext. 1603.
To make reservations at the MGM Grand
Hotel, call (877) 880-0880 by January 23 to secure a special
discounted room rate of $169 per night.
Scottsdale cleaner recognized for local
leadership
Prestige Cleaners of Scottsdale, AZ, was recently honored by its local
Chamber of Commerce with a prestigious Sterling Award. Only
four such juried competition awards are handed out annually to
recognize community leadership, excellence and innovation.
Prestige President Donn Frye was happy
that his company won in the small business category.
“We are pleased and honored to be
recognized by our peers,” he said. “From the
beginning, Scottsdale has held a special place in our
hearts.”
Prestige Cleaners has seven locations in
Scottsdale and is one of the area’s largest retail
drycleaning operations. It was originally founded by
Frye’s father, Don, in 1964, who was named
Arizona’s Small Business Person of the Year in 1980.
The company has been honored numerous
times through the years for its innovativeness and
environmental awareness, including two Governor’s Pride
in Arizona Awards; the Model Cleaners Project Award; and the
Arizona Pollution Prevention Leadership Enhancement Award.
