WFI hosts successful finishing seminar at
Klinke’s Cleaners
Several Wisconsin cleaners will now be
prepared for the Spring Rush after completing a IFI/WFI
finishing seminar held on Saturday, April 1.
The program was held at Klinke’s
Cleaners’ Waukesha plant. IFI’s Manager of
Education and Training Jane Rising shared her knowledge on
finishing pants, coats, skirts, sweaters, blouses, dresses,
pleats and pile fabrics.
In all, there were 30 people in
attendance who reviewed the quality points for properly
pressing and finishing a variety of garments.
Those who attended were also given an
overview of finishing equipment such as the utility press,
pants toppers and hand irons, as well as finishing aids such as
brushes, sleeve boards and tie forms.
Once the seminar had concluded, many
attendees had several positive things to say about the event,
including Dan Martino, Jr., of Martino’s Master
Drycleaners.
“I sent one presser and three
inspectors,” he said. “Although my inspectors
don’t press, our quality inspection service has greatly
improved.”
Dennis Schmitt of Lindeman’s
Cleaning, Inc., also offered his approval. “Our
Spanish-speaking employee even received a handbook/training
manual she can comprehend,” he noted.
WFI tees off in June
Following the heels of one successful
program, WFI has
released plans for another: the association’s annual golf
tournament will be on Wednesday, June 21 at the Silver Spring
Country Club in Menomonee Falls.
The Fitzgerald Scholarship Golf Classic
will seek to raise money for WFI’s Fitzgerald
Scholarship. Last year, the association raised enough to grant
two $2,000 scholarship for IFI’s finishing school.
The tournament will follow a four-man
scramble format where everybody hits their ball and the team
then chooses the best ball’s location to start the next
stroke.
There will be prizes awarded on several
holes, as well as a putting contest with a guaranteed payout of
$200 cash and prizes.
The cost to participate is $120 for 18
holes of golf plus cart, a box lunch, a sleeve of commemorative
golf balls and a buffet dinner later in the evening.
Registration begins in the morning at 10
a.m. with a shotgun start planned at 11 a.m. The tournament is
not limited to WFI members; anybody interested can sign up.
Registration forms (available in
WFI’s March/April newsletter) should be mailed prior to
June 1 to Herb Fitzgerald Co., Attn: Herb Fitzgerald, P.O. Box
465, Butler, WI, 53007-0465.
More information about becoming a sponsor
for the tournament can be obtained by calling Jim Fitzgerald,
Jr. at (262) 783-5808 or (800) 686-3489 or WFI at (414)
529-4707.
