New cleaning process
NAPERVILLE, IL — R. R. Street and Co. Inc. has announced its new textile cleaning process technology Solvair, a patented process technology that offers a combination of benefits, including effective cleaning, improved productivity and competitive costs, an environmentally friendly process, and service and support from Street’s.

The Solvair process technology uses a cleaning fluid that combines proprietary additives with an effective and environmentally friendly solvent. Drying is performed without heat. Cleaned clothes are rinsed dry with pressurized liquid CO2.
The Solvair cleaning fluid is attracted to and solubilized in the CO2 in a process that is faster and more efficient than heat drying. At the end of the liquid CO2 rinse process, the pressure in the wheel is reduced until the CO2 converts from a liquid back to a gas, drying the garments. This process removes the solvent from the garments and creates more even drying than conventional cleaning.
Solvair is the result of more than eight years of research and development. A prototype unit has been in testing for more than two years; the pre-production model of Solvair has been operating in a field test for the past six months and, beginning in July, has been processing commercial work.
Demonstrations of Street’s new technology will begin soon with the first commercial installations commencing in early 2007. More information on Street’s new technology will be available at the California Fabricare 2006 Show in Long Beach, CA, this month.

Variable size identification labels
SYRACUSE, NY — Thermopatch has added a new HiQ label that has options to its selection of HiQ thermal label sizes. The new label is 3/8ths of an inch high, but can be 1", 11/16" or 5/16" long. Another option with this label configuration is to have two labels, one 3/8" x 11/16" and one 5/16" x 5/16". In total, this makes 21 thermal HiQ label sizes to choose from.

The labels are ideal for a small barcode and/or route number and can be placed inconspicuously on a garment. The quality of thermal printing has allowed labels to shrink in size and still be readable after multiple industrial washings and drycleanings. A typical HiQ thermal label should outlast the garment it was heat-sealed onto.
Thermopatch has label and ink configurations that work on a number of different thermal printers. The company provides textile/garment identification; marking equipment, heat-seal machines, mending products, and a variety of supporting supplies to the laundry industry and garment/textile manufacturers worldwide.

Piece counting to monitor pressers
TURLOCK, CA — Wesvic Systems has introduced the PieceCounter, a tool to motivate,
PieceCounter.tif
manage and monitor pressers.
The PieceCounter motivates pressers by clearly and continually communicating what is expected of them and how they are performing compared to company PPH goals. This is accomplished with an LCD touch screen interface at each pressing station hooked up to a sensor that automatically counts each finished garment.
The PieceCounter allows management to monitor pressers in real-time anywhere there is access to the Internet. Management can see in real time how pressers are performing and even see a summary of how they did over a period of time.
All pressing data is uploaded to a central database, which is easily accessible through a simple web interface. Performance appraisals and raises can be justified with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Non-oily POG
TULSA, OK — Royaltone’s Spot Magic is a non-oily POG spotter that rinses wet or dry in wetcleaning, drycleaning and laundry, providing the spotting power of a heavy-duty full-strength POG but without the oil.
Spot Magic works on oil-based stains like tar, shoe polish, wax, paint, varnish, rubber, resins, cosmetics, lipstick and ballpoint pen ink. It also works well on oxidized oils such as salad oil, fish oil, linseed oil and contaminated grease and oil as well as perspiration rings and odor.
Spot Magic works well with silk spotters like Silk Magic and prespotters like Spot Plus for wetcleaning cloth and Ultra Spot for drycleaning cloth as well as with Leather Magic for wetcleaning leather and Spot Wiz-Wet for drycleaning leather.
After applying the appropriate prespotter to the stain, apply Spot Magic and tamp gently with a brush and work lightly with a scraper to break up the stain. Rinse and then wetclean, dryclean or launder.
