Booth sales top 200 for PDCA trade show
in Atlantic City
As its Drycleaning and Laundry Expo 2006
draws closer, the Pennsylvania and Delaware Cleaners
Association continues to
add more exhibitors.
The show, which is planned at the
Atlantic City Convention Center on Sept. 16 and 17, currently
features more 200 booths and the number continues to grow.
According to Expo Chairman Mark Pollock,
the high number of sales is an indication of the
popularity of the show, as well as anticipation for its
success.
A full range of equipment, supplies and
services for the drycleaning industry will be on display.
Attendees may tread the aisles of the
exhibit floor starting at 10 a.m. on both days of the weekend
exhibition. Admission is free.
This year’s educational programming
will include a panel session at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning on
“New Challenges: A Look at the Changing Environmental
Picture.” Cleaners will learn more about new
environmental regulations, including what is happening at both
the state and federal levels, what the trade associations are
doing, and what cleaners themselves can do in their own plants
to cope with the issue.
The expert panel will be comprised of:
David Dawson, chairman of the Government Affairs Committee of
The Textile Care Allied Trades Association and vicepresident of
R.R. Street & Co., Inc.; Stephen Risotto, executive
director of the Halogenated Solvents Industry Alliance; Mary
Scalco, senior vice president of International Fabricare
Institute; and Michael Tatch, president of Tatch Technical
Services.
Dale Kaplan, PDCA’s vice president
of government relations, will serve as moderator. He also holds
the distinction of being a drycleaner who was appointed as the
chair of the Pennsylvania Small Business Environmental
Assistance Program.
On Sunday morning, PDCA will host an
interactive “Breakfast with the Best” session that
will consist of three separate roundtable discussions.
The first will be by popular trainer and
consultant Jane Zellers. She will examine how to control costs
in a drycleaning plant.
Joining her will be Art Hartzell of FH
Bonn Co., who will speak on energy savings, and marketing
consultant Lori Moore, who will demonstrate to cleaners how
they can get the most from their marketing budget.
Social events planned throughout the
weekend include a casual welcome reception on Friday evening
sponsored by TCATA, and an elegant cocktail reception on
Saturday that will feature hors d’ouevres, carving
stations and an open bar.
The headquarters for PDCA’s Expo
2006 is the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel,
located across the street from the Atlantic City Convention
Center. The association has procured a special discounted rate
of $159 per night.
Cleaners can make reservations directly
from PDCA’s web site, or they can call (800) 325-3535. In
order to qualify for the special room rate, attendees must
mention their affiliation with the show.
Full registration packages are available
at a rate of $50 each if purchased before Aug. 15; otherwise,
the cost goes up $10. The package includes admission to all
educational seminars, as well as the Friday and Saturday
evening receptions.
Cleaners also have the option of
purchasing registration for individual events, as well. The
cost to attend Saturday’s seminar is $25 per person; the
cost for Sunday’s seminar program is $30 per person. The
Saturday reception is $30; the Friday reception is free.

822-7352.
