Anton’s launches 12th annual Coats
for Kids campaign
With over a dozen years of
experience, and a total of 371,356 winter garments collected,
Anton’s Coats for Kids campaign seeks to resume its
strong annual run this year.
The community service program works
to grant New England residents with a much-needed coat during
the harsh winter time, and Anton’s utilizes all 43 of its
locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire to get the job
done.
This year, the drive begins on
Sunday, Oct. 15, and, as usual, Anton’s promises that
anyone in the region who is in need of a coat will have one.
During the 2005-2006 drive, nearly
55,000 coats were gathered with the help of over 240 schools,
along with thousands of individuals who joined the effort.
In addition to helping with the collection and
distribution of the clothing, Anton’s also cleans them
all free of charge.
As a general rule, the drive
accepts all winter garments in both adult and children’s
sizes. However, Anton’s dissuades contributors from
donating coats that are ripped, stained or have broken zippers.
Providing a promotional boost for
the campaign will be sponsors FOX25, the Boston Bruins and
Jordan’s Furniture.
Many other corporate partners also
chip in to the cause, including: State Street, Webster Manor,
Columbia Construction Co., Jazzercise, Lyne Laboratories,
Fidelity Investments, Bureau Veritas, HealthSouth, Delta
Dental, Raytheon, Citizens Bank, Package Supply Corporation and
Graham Communications.
Cradles to Crayons, MASSCAP and the
Salvation Army will provide additional distribution support.
NCA revises schedule for fall classes at
NY School
The National
Cleaners Association has
made a few scheduling adjustments to its upcoming sessions
offered at its New York School of Drycleaning, located at 252
W. 29th St.
Originally, a ten-week Principles
and Practices of Drycleaning course was set to begin in
October; however, it has been moved back to start on Nov. 13.
It will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 to 11 p.m. through
January 22, 2007, for a total of 80 class hours. Tuition is
$970.
In the class’s original
starting date slot of Oct. 16 will be an offering of
NCA’s Principles and Practices of Pressing. The four-week
course will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 to 10:30
p.m. through Nov. 8. The class costs $380.
Also changed is a DEC certification
class that has moved up in the schedule. It was originally
planned for consecutive Sundays Oct. 8 and 15; however, now the
class will meet on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8. The
course runs 16 hours altogether and costs $509 for members and
$975 for non-members.
NCA also has several upcoming
webinars planned, including: “Surviving a Regulatory
Inspection” by Michael Tatch on Oct. 4; “How to
Sell a Route Without Going Door to Door” by Jason Loeb on
Oct. 18; and “Preventive Maintenance” by Alan
Spielvogel on Nov. 15.
