SEFA sets finishing seminar in Columbia, SC, this month
The South Eastern Fabricare Association will be hosting an informative drycleaning finishing seminar entitled “Don’t Just Please Them... Surprise Them” on Saturday, Oct. 7 in Columbia, SC.
The event is scheduled to take place at Ed Robinson Laundry & Dry Cleaners, located at 2551 Forest Dr.
It will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at approximately 4 p.m.
IFI instructor Brian Johnson will help attendees learn about quality finishing techniques for various types of pants, coats, skirts, sweaters, blouses, dresses, and pleats.
Attendees will also gain a better understanding of various types of fabrics and their appropriate finishes.
Johnson, who serves as the director of the training and technical services department at IFI, will show how easy it is to cause shine and seam impressions on many of today’s lightweight fabrics.
In addition to teaching drycleaning, stain removal, wetcleaning, and other courses at IFI’s School of Dry Cleaning Technology, Johnson does personalized in-plant training, outreach seminars, in-plant consulting, and writes technical bulletins and articles for IFI’s Fabricare magazine.
He joined the IFI staff in 1999. Prior to that, he was responsible for route operations and multiple plant managment for a Maryland-based drycleaning operation for 13 years.
The cost of the seminar is $99 for SEFA/IFI members, and only $89 for each additional member from the same plant.
Non-members must pay $129 each.
