CCA sets pressing, finishing classes, CARB certification
Before the year is up, cleaners will have a few more opportunities to brush up on their pressing and finishing skills, or, if necessary, update their CARB certification status.
This November, there will be two sessions of a “Pressing and Finishing” course at the California Cleaners Association’s Cleaning Science Instruction School.
The first will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Snow Cleaners, located at 38 W. Sonora St. in Stockton, CA. The same program will be offered again exactly one week later at Perfect Cleaners, 10531 W. Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Both classes will meet from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The cost is $75 per person for CCA members and $125.00 per person for non-members. Lunch is not provided. Discounted registration is available for cleaners who send three or more employees to one class.
Classes which do not meet the minimum student requirement will be subject to cancellation, so early registration is recommended. Call the CCA office for details at (916) 239-4070.
CCA has also enlisted the aid of Dallons Environmental Services to host certification classes on the last Saturday of every month in Long Beach. Upcoming dates include Nov. 25 and Dec. 30.
The California Air Resources Board requires all perc drycleaning operators to be certified in Air Toxic Control Measure Training (Title 17, Calif. Code of Reg. Section 93110).
Those who do not have a certificate of training posted in their plant may be subject to a minimum fine of $150.
The CARB classes are limited to 30 people and pre-paid registration is required. The cost is $150 for initial certification and $75 for three year re-certification.  For more information, call Dallons Environmental Services at (800) 347-6551 or go to www.calcleaners.com.
