Royaltone Academy sets class sessions for 2007
If you already know how to spot, press and clean cloth garments, then you are well on the way to being able to do the same with suede and leather garments, as well.
In fact, once you have those fundamentals, then all that is needed is to take a two-day Royaltone wetcleaning and drycleaning leather cleaning class.
The Royaltone process was designed to make leather cleaning 90 percent like regular drycleaning and wetcleaning.
The Royaltone Academy classes are set up to teach cleaners how to apply the 90 percent they already know and the 10 percent they still need to learn.
There will be four class offerings throughout 2007 at the Royaltone Leather Cleaning Academy in Tulsa, OK.
Cleaners can sign up for weekend classes on the following dates: Feb. 8 and 9; May 10 and 11; Sept. 13 and 14; and and Nov. 8 and 9.
The courses are headed by Frank Lucenta, inventor of the technology of the Royaltone Cleaning process. He is assisted by Bruce James, a Royaltone leather cleaning expert with over 35 years of experience.
Plant owners and managers learn how to safely identify, spot, drycleaning, wetclean, press, refinish, sew, mend and promote suedes, leathers and furs — much in the same way they already do for cloth garments in perc, petroleum, Exxon 2000, water, carbon dioxide and other solvents.
It is also an opportunity for cleaners to network with their peers and find out how they operate their cleaning plants.
On the first day, a morning session of the class will meet from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
Cleaners will learn about a wide range of subjects, including: the tanning process; the identification of skins; acceptance techniques made easy and invoice ticket preparation; spotting techniques; testing drycleaning fluid; gluing and sewing; pressing and forming; and drycleaning machine configuration.
Following a lunch break, attendees meet again from noon to 3:30 p.m. to examine wetcleaning methods, finishing, spraying, restoring luster, water repelling and sizing, and other topics before a final exam is given.
On the following day, class will be in session from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Those who attend will have an opportunity to apply the techniques and skills they learned the previous day in a supervised hands-on, in-plant atmosphere.
Students each receive a complete instruction manual, written by Frank Lucenta, in either English, Spanish or Korean.
Course completion certificates will also be handed out after the conclusion of the training.
Those who still need after-training support will be able to contact the Royal Academy via a toll free hotline at (800) 331-5506.
The cost of enrollment for the two-day leather and suede cleaning course is $400 per attendee with 50 percent discounts available for cleaning plants with multiple attendees.
Because the class size is limited to seven attendees, plant owners/managers are encouraged to sign up early. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
