Automatic loader for finishing tunnel
Leonard Autoloader.jpg
DENVER, NC — The new Autoloader from Leonard Automatics makes it easier to maintain tunnel capacity throughput while minimizing the impact upon employees. The Autoloader is a self contained garment loading device that attaches to a new or existing Leonard Tunnel that is equipped with a twist style conveyor system.
Easily installed, the Autoloader needs only a 110-volt electrical connection and a quick bolt-on to the input conveyor of the tunnel. It comes with a stand, control box with analog controls, variable speed DC drive and a four-foot stainless steel “buffer” zone that can hold up to 50 garments at a time. An optional ten-foot conveyor is available that expands the buffering capacity up to 150 garments.
Filling the loader with garments lets the employee do more productive work in the plant. The Autoloader requires little or no adjustments after the initial set-up. With no pneumatics involved, there is no need to provide compressed air supply or repeatedly adjusting a problematic air cylinder.
With the standard variable speed DC drive, the desired rotational speed of the Autoloader is simply dialed in at the control panel to maintain pace with the finisher’s speed. The Autoloader is easily adapted to current production needs. Varied conveyor spacing is achievable as well. Dial in the appropriate rotational speed on the Autoloader, and product will be dropped into position when and where needed.

New insurance program for IFI members
LAUREL, MD — The International Fabricare Institute has selected Irving Weber Associates, Inc. and Great Central Insurance Company to underwrite its newly endorsed business insurance program.
IWA and Great Central are the nation’s largest specialty insurer to the fabric care industry. IWA has been providing comprehensive business insurance, automobile, workers’ compensation, and pollution liability insurance to the industry for 60 years. In addition, IWA operates the only national workers’ compensation safety group for the fabricare industry, a program that has successfully returned uninterrupted dividends to participants since the group’s formation.
The IWA Fabricare Insurance Program offers a special benefits bundle exclusively to IFI professional affiliates that waive installment fees and provide certain coverage that will reduce their costs an average of $480 for the one location and $260 for each additional location.
Previously, IFI affiliates who purchased business insurance through IFI’s program were only able to do so by dealing directly with the insurance carrier. With the exception of a few areas, now IFI affiliated companies will be able to continue to utilize the services of their local independent insurance broker or agent. Businesses that choose to deal directly with IWA will work with a dedicated fabricare insurance consultant.
“Business insurance — property/casualty, unlimited bailee, boiler, etc.—is one of the most critical investments a plant can make, both in terms of adequate coverage and cost,” IFI CEO Bill Fisher said. “We think IFI affiliated companies will find an extraordinary combination of coverage and rates through IWA/Great Central—plus they’ll have the ability to use their own local insurance agent and the availability of coverage in all 50 states.”
