Zellers to lead management workshop for SEFA in Feb.
Even top-of-the-line cleaners need to be know about their business’s bottom line, especially if they want to stay successful in the future.
This February, the South Eastern Fabricare Association will be helping plant
owners and managers do precisely that with a full-day management workshop on
Saturday, Feb. 24 from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
It will be presented at the Lakeland Yacht and Country Club, located at 929 Lake
Hollingsworth Dr. in Lakeland, FL.
The program will be taught by industry expert and popular speaker Jane Zellers.
She has spent most of her life within the confines of various drycleaning
plants, and she currently teaches courses at the Southwest Drycleaners
Association
’s school on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
During the program, she will help attendees learn how to determine if their
employees are productive and achieving industry production standards.
She will also examine a variety of other topics, including: understanding the
production department
’s PPPH’s (pieces per presser hour); recognizing wasted labor hours and how to reduce
them; controlling and eliminating overtime; adding more profit to the bottom
line; and learning how to manage productivity in your business.
Participants are encouraged to bring statistics on the hours and the pieces
produced in each department by each employee in the plant to help work own
their plant
’s productivity. The numbers are considered private and will not be shared
between attendees at the workshop.
Registration is $99 for SEFA/IFI members, and $89 for additional members from
the same plant. Non-members must pay $129 each to attend.

CLA to host conferences in Orlando
Both advanced coin launderers and novices can benefit from the Coin Laundry
Association
’s 2007 spring seminar in Orlando, FL, March 9-10 at the Hilton in the Walt
Disney World Resort.
On Friday, March 9, the day’s Laundry Management Conference is designed to help laundry owners grow profits
while keeping costs at a minimum.
Clay Pederson, president of Business Consultants International, will discuss “What’s Your Laundry Worth?” CLA’s Executive Vice President Michael Sokolowki will present “Strategic Business Analysis: Analyze, Organize and Plan.”
Other seminar topics include: “Security and Surveillance,” “Creative Marketing That Gets Results,” and “The Equipment Equation: When and How to Upgrade.”
On Saturday, the programs will be tailored to the interests of newcomers and
potential investors to the coin laundry industry.
The cost to attend either program is $199 for members and $249 for non-members
prior to Feb. 6. After that date, registration goes up $50 per person.
