Exhibitors from the U.S. and Korea will showcase all of the latest technology
and products available for drycleaners and laundry owners, managers from hotel
housekeeping and industrial laundries and potential investors.
The event is expected to draw many industry members from California, as well as
surrounding states Nevada, Oregon, Arizona and Washington.
The show will be at the Convention Center in Anaheim on Saturday and Sunday,
March 24-25.
So far, 70% of the booths have been purchased, with more expected to sell before
the show begins.
Many exhibitors will demonstrate the use of their machines or merchandise and
then ask related questions to attendees. Those who pay attention can win
discount coupons offered by the companies as prizes.
In addition to the exhibit space, FKDA will host several educational seminars
and conferences on the weekend.
As an added bonus, the association will be offering an expo-wide raffle
give-away event.

CCA, NCA planning classes in California
The first half of 2007 will be an excellent time for California cleaners to
brush up their industry skills as the
California Cleaners Association and the National Cleaners Association will offer educational opportunities.
NCA’s school may be headquartered back in New York, the association will travel
westward to the Clothes Dr. in Foothills Ranch, CA, in late March.
The association will host a two-day, 16-hour course on “Stain Removal and Pressing” on Saturday and Sunday, March 24 and 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The cost to attend is $455 for members and $595 for non-members. For
information, contact NCA, (800) 888-1622.
Also in March, the California Cleaners Association will be offering several
courses at Perfect Cleaners, located at 10531 West Pico Boulevard in Los
Angeles.
The site will first host a “Spotting 1: Modern Textile Technologies” program on Saturday, March 10. It is the first of a three-part spotting seminar
series.
“Spotting 1” will cover topics such as fiber content, yarn construction, fabric
construction, dyes and pigments.
Exactly one week later, Perfect Cleaners will host the second installment: “Spotting 2: Know Your Chemistry.” This session will cover the tools and equipment used in stain removal, as well
as how to identify both simple and complex stains.
Attendees will also learn about common and special spotting agents and basic
spotting techniques that are effective and safe.
In the latter half of the month, CCA will head northward with the same two
classes as it shifts to Snow Cleaners at 38 West Sonora Street in Stockton.
First, on Saturday, March 24, the association will host the “Spotting 1: Modern Textile Technologies” course. Then, on March 31, they will continue with the second part: “Spotting 2: Know Your Chemistry.”
Snow Cleaners will also host the final installment of the series in April. “Spotting 3: Know Your Chemistry” will be held on Saturday, April 14. That final installment will be repeated on
Saturday, April 21 in Los Angeles at Perfect Cleaners.
In May, CCA will present a new educational session on “Understanding Care Labels and Customer Service” at Snow Cleaners. It will be held on Saturday, May 5.
The class will examine care label terms and symbols. It will cover several
related issues, including: how to classify garments prior to processing; how to
process garments that have no labels; example of illegal care labels; resolving
customer complaints; and much more. The same course will be hosted by Perfect
Cleaners on Saturday, June 2.
Typically, the classes offered by CCA run from 9 a.m. until about 3 p.m.
The cost is $75 for CCA members and $125 for non-members; however, discounts are
available for cleaners who send three or more employees to the same class.
Lunch is not included.
