Antiquities will have a place among the displays at Clean ’07
The drycleaning industry’s rich tapestry of history will be on full display in Las Vegas this June when the Clean Show rolls into town.
In honor of the show’s 30th anniversary, there will be an Antiquities Area located in one of the restaurants on the exhibit floor. At least 25 exhibiting companies will contribute to the display, which will feature photos and equipment that catalogue the past three decades of the industry and beyond.
Attendees will be able to see washers, dryers, ironers, extractors and more dating back as far as 1914.
IFI will participate, as well, bringing along memorabilia from it’s own past — a century’s worth, in fact — as this year the association celebrates its 100th anniversary.
Although the Clean Show has been around for 70 years less, it has changed in scope a lot in that time.
Originally, the show started in 1977 when six industry associations sought to consolidate several trade shows into a biennial, industry-wide exposition. Since then, it has grown to become the world ’s largest textile care show.
In fact, the Clean Show in Orlando ranked 113 among the top 200 trade shows in North America based on overall exhibit space.
As of mid-March, Clean ’07 has secured about 400 exhibitors, with more expected on the way. The last Clean Show, held in Orlando in 2005, drew 511 exhibiting companies with attendance counted at  just under 14,000.
Riddle & Associates, the show’s management company, anticipates 16,000 visitors to make the trip to Vegas this year. Traditionally, about 95 percent of the show ’s attendees are owners or managers of their companies.
By June, Riddle & Associates believes the exhibit hall will cover a surface area of approximately 245,000 net sq. ft.
On-site registration costs $85 per person. However, cleaners can take advantage of a discounted registration cost of $50 prior to May 21.
According to show manager John Riddle, the value of Clean ’07 far exceeds its cost.
“It is an invaluable resource for anyone in the industry, or thinking about coming into the industry, ” he said. “It is the only place where an attendee can see and compare virtually every type of textile care equipment in live demonstration, and see what products are new in the industry that might benefit his business. ”
In addition to its impressive exhibit hall, Clean is also famous for its vast array of educational seminars.
“There is so much to see and learn at this show,” Riddle added.
In all, there will be over 30 hours of programs focussing on state-of-the-art technical information, business management, and environmental and regulatory issues.
All sessions will take place early in the morning each day from Monday, June 11, to Thursday, June 14.
For a full schedule of the programs presented by the Coin Laundry Association (CLA), the International Fabricare Institute (IFI), the National Association of Institutional Linen Management (NAILM), and the Textile Rental Services Association of America (TRSA), visit the Clean Show ’s web site at www.cleanshow.com.
Cleaners seeking accommodations during the week of the show can also refer to the site to take advantage of special rates at eight sponsor hotels — Bally’s, the Flamingo, Harrah’s, the Paris, the Planet Hollywood Resort, the Hilton, the Riviera, and the Wynn Las Vegas Resort.
All hotels are located on the Strip except for the Hilton, which is adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The discounted price of the host hotels range from $89 per night to $209 per night. Cleaners must call prior to May 11 and mention their affiliation with the Clean Show to secure those rates.
IFI, CLA, TRSA and NAILM are all co-sponsors of the show, along with the Textile Care Allied Trades Association and the Uniform and Textiles Service Association.
