MAC offering two days of seminars to “Access Success”
The MidAtlantic Association of Cleaners will host two full days of seminars this May with its “Access Success” educational series and exhibit.
The event will be hosted at the Sheraton Suites in historic Alexandria, VA, on the first weekend of the month.
Each day, MAC will kick things off at 8 a.m. by opening  the tabletop exhibits.
On Saturday, May 5, the first seminar will begin at 9:15 a.m. Gary Resnick, owner of LaSalle Cleaners of Toledo, OH, will discuss natural gas purchasing and how to be successful developing routes and marketing your business.
At 10 a.m., Robert Klinger of Klinger & Associates will examine “The Right Coverage for the Right Price,” an insider’s guide to structuring coverage that will save money and keep you protected.
An hour later, David Norford will speak on the dividends of IFI’s Award of Excellence program.
On Sunday morning, the seminars will start at 9 a.m. with David Winer, who will help attendees protect the equity relative to their leases and learn the essentials of lease negotiations.
At 10 a.m., Emily Herson of Carl Freeman & Associates will address the question: What do landlords really want?
Finally, Richard Ehrenreich of Ehrenreich & Associates will outline how cleaners can exit their businesses on their own terms at 11 a.m.
A full registration package for all sessions on both days, a Saturday night dinner and a Sunday continental breakfast costs $249 per participant if paid prior to April 22.

Cleaners earn PA grants in SBA program
The Pennsylvania Department iof Environmental Protection announced the latest group to receive awards in its Small Business Advantage Grant program. Typically, the grants provide a 50 percent match up to $7,500 for equipment or processes that reduce energy consumption, promote pollution prevention and increase profitability.
Among the winners were several Pennsylvania cleaning and laundry businsess, including: Butler Cleaners and Formal Wear, LLC, who received $6,755 for high-efficiency clothes drying equipment; Murrell Court Partners L.P., who received $7,500 for high-efficiency washing machines; Allegheny Leather Care, Inc., who received $7,500 for upgraded drycleaning equipment; and Wilmington Laundromat, who received $6,929 to purchase and install a high-efficiency boiler with zone controls.
Other grant recipients included: Valley Cleaners, $7,500, for upgraded drycleaning equipment; 6th Street Laundromat Plus, $7,500, for high-efficiency washing machines; Panda Dry Cleaners, $7,500, for upgraded drycleaning equipment; Betty Brite Cleaners, $7,500, for upgraded drycleaning equipment; and Village Laundry, $4,664, for high-efficiency washing machines.
