Port Huron to host MILD’s annual convention July 27-28
Typically, July is the hottest month annually in Michigan. This year, cleaners
can take a break from their plant
’s heat during that month and head to the Michigan Institute of Laundering and
Drycleaning
’s annual convention in Port Huron.
The event will be held on July 27 and 28 at the Thomas Edison Inn.
Attendees can still take advantage of $99 discounted room rates there by calling
(800) 451-7991 and making reservations. Mention your affiliation with MILD to
get the special rates.
The association will waste no time in helping its convention-goers unwind. On
Friday, the group will set sail on the
“Huron Lady II” boat for a cruise along the St. Clair River and lower Lake Huron.
The “Evening Under the Stars” will begin at 6 p.m. and last about three hours. There will be appetizers and a
cash bar. Those on board will have plenty of time for networking.
The weekend’s educational sessions will begin the following morning when MILD hosts seminars
from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
Afterward, there will be more time for fun as the association has planned a golf
tournament at 12:30 p.m.
Those who prefer to remain off the fairways will have plenty of activities to
occupy them for Saturday afternoon.
Nearby is the Fort Gratiot lighthouse, which was built over 190 years ago.
History buffs may also consider a tour of the Carnegie Center of Arts and
History or the Thomas Edison Museum, which commemorates where the celebrated
American inventor conducted his first experiments.
Also during the conference will be the Blue Water Offshore Race. It will be held
from July 27-29 on the St. Clair River.
It will feature powerboat races in different classes as part of the Great Lakes
Silver Cup Series and the Offshore Super Series. For more information, visit
www.stclairrace.com.
MILD will host a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, following
by its annual awards and banquet dinner, as well as an
“Afterglow Party” hosted by outgoing president Julie Plassman.
For more information on the annual convention, contact the MILD office at (517)
327-9207, or visit
