Royaltone plans two classes on leather, suede cleaning
At the Royaltone Academy in Tulsa, OK, cleaners can learn how to dryclean or wetclean any suede,
leather, fur and fabric, regardless of the equipment they use.
The school’s staff spends one day offering class instruction and another for hands-on
training in an in-plant atmosphere.
Before enrolling, students should already possess knowledge of how to spot,
clean and press cloth garments. After the weekend course, however, that
knowledge will be applicable to suedes and leathers, as well.
This Fall, Royaltone Academy will present two offerings of the course. The first
will take place Sept. 13-14; the second will be held Nov. 8-9.
On Thursday, students will meet in the morning and study topics such as: the
tanning process; characteristics of suede and leather; identification of skins;
acceptance techniques made easy; invoice ticket preparation; spotting
techniques for drycleaning; and drycleaning machine configurations.
After a lunch break, Royaltone instructors will focus on other topics,
including: spotting for wetcleaning and wetcleaning methods; finishing
(spraying suedes, neutrals and dyes); restoring luster and color; and water
repelling and sizing. A final exam will be given at the end of the day.
On Friday, students will apply what they learned on the previous day under
supervised actual operation conditions. Diplomas will be handed out in the
afternoon.
All attendees receive an instruction manual written by Frank Lucenta to
complement the classroom and in-plant training.
The cost for is $400 per attendee with discounts for multiple attendees from the
same plant.
