MILD schedules “Spot Right” seminar
The Michigan Institute of Laundering and Drycleaning will be devoting two days and three separate sessions to the subject of spotting
this September.
The association has enlisted Dennis Schmitt and Tom Swink from Lindeman’s Cleaning of Green Bay for the program.
Combined, they have over 47 years of industry experience and have conducted
numerous

Both men will be on hand to present hands-on spotting training on Sept. 21 and

Birmingham, MI.
The educational program will be divided into three four-hour sessions.
Participants will receive a packet for each level containing notes and an
assortment of fabric swatches with stains that are directly related to each
level.
Students will also receive a certificate of completion signed by both
instructors for every level they finish.
The first level will focus on spotting board techniques and stain
identification, as well as fabrics, buttons, construction and limits. Attendees
will also learn about spotting with dry side chemicals.
The segment will run from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 21. The second level
will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning and run until noon.
Schmitt and Swink will review stains, chemicals and fabric identification.
They will also discuss burn testing, wet side chemicals, acid-alkalis (pH
testing) and more advanced spot removal.
The third level of learning will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Attendees will review chemicals and fabrics and tackle the topics of bleaches
and spotting with bleachers on and assortment of materials.
Students are encouraged to bring in their own problem garments to the session.
Box lunches will be provided for all attendees.
The cost is $90 per session for MILD members and $125.00 per session for
