NCA TexCare to include coin laundry
In keeping with past tradition, the National Cleaners Association will offer cleaners a showcase of the latest technology and a curriculum of relevant seminars at its TexCare 2007 show.
However, the association has also chosen to expand the scope of the two-day exposition to meet the needs of coin-op laundry owners and their providers.
The event is scheduled to take place on Oct. 20 and 21 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, NJ.
Admission to the show floor and all of the educational seminars is free for drycleaners and coin-op laundry owners.
Exhibit hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The educational programs will be held between 8 and 10 a.m. on both days.
“There are more drycleaners and coin-op laundry operators concentrated in the Northeast than in any other place in the world and they come to TexCare to do business, ” said NCA’s Special Projects Director Ann Hargrove.
“TexCare welcomed almost 3,000 attendees and 200 exhibitors in 2005 with this year ’s show already predicting to far surpass those numbers. It’s their chance to comparison shop, kick the tires and make their best deals,” she added
Highlighting this year’s educational speakers will be representatives from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Conservation ’s Commissioner’s Office.
The officials will be on hand to answer questions and discuss state level regulatory trends, particularly those in the Northeast.
NCA will also tap the resources of Kelly Kelleher, a former realtor who is now the principal in the Kelleher Equipment Co. of Long Beach, CA.
She will present a seminar on “The Art of Negotiating a Lease,” focussing on legal issues ranging from signage to parking to insurance and environmental concerns.
Other speakers will include Alan Spielvogel, NCA’s Technical Director and Director of the New York School of Drycleaning, and Kirsten Whitten, co-owner of G.T. Graphics & Marketing in Hanson, MA.
Whitten will present a session on “Unharnessing the Power of Public Relations,” providing attendees with the tools to create a media buzz about their business.
Spielvogel will discuss how to analyze and deal with problem garments and resolve issues effectively in a session, titled “Watch Out!”
Those seeking more education may want to consider heading to TexCare a day early; NCA has planned an all-day program with Jason Loeb of Sudsies.com on Friday, Oct. 19.
As the owner of a multi million dollar cleaning operation, Loeb knows a thing or two about the power of branding and marketing. Recently, he was a key presenter at the Golomb Group Route seminars in Las Vegas and Chicago.
At TexCare, he will divulge some of the secrets that have helped him to grow his business to include ten pickup and delivery trucks on the road six days a week.
Tickets for the special pre-show event are $495 per person. However, cleaners may contact Vivian Benn at NCA about the Early Bird Special which is available through August 31.
During the weekend, NCA will also offer a few excellent networking opportunities for cleaners, including a “Saturday Night at the Races” at the Meadowlands Racetrack.
“You can’t afford to miss the networking and business opportunities that TexCare offers your company, ” Hargrove noted. “It is no doubt that TexCare attracts more drycleaners than any other textile industry show. ”
NCA has secured deals with several hotels located nearby the convention center suitable for budgets of all sizes. However, attendees are encouraged to sign up prior to July 31 in order to assure room availability.
Rooms are available at the following hotels:
Embassy Suites (across the street from the Exposition Center), 455 Plaza Drive, (401) 864-7300.
Hampton Inn (two blocks away), 250 Harmon Meadow Blvd., (201) 867-4400.
Harmon Meadow Holiday Inn (also, two blocks away), 300 Plaza Drive, (201) 348-2000.
To make reservations, contact the hotel and mention affiliation with NCA TexCare ’07.
While admission is free for all drycleaners and coin-op laundry owners, there are still registration costs for non-exhibiting allied trades, ($200 per person for a two-day pass), and non-exhibiting consultants, ($100 per day per person).
That price will go up to $300 for non-exhibiting allied trades and $150 per person per day for non-exhibiting consultants if they wait to register at the show.
