Industry events offer chances to escape midwinter blahs
With the winter months closing in, it’s a good time to start making early plans for several industry events lined up
for the early part of next year.
First on the list is the Miami Expo ’08 sponsored by Steiner-Atlantic.
The event, which is billed as the largest exhibit in Florida and the Carribean,
will be held from Feb. 9-10.
Expo ’08 will be hosted at the company’s facilities located at 290 NE 68th St. in Miami.
It will featuring live running equipment and educational seminars.
Admission is free and food and drinks will be provided.

Next up is the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute’s Five-Star Conference Feb. 22-23 in New Orleans, LA.
This year’s event will look to venture outside traditional industry lines in order to
discover some excellent and inspirational ideas from other industries.
After all, drycleaners are hardly the only business owners who struggle with
customer retention.
With that in mind, DLI will look to secure top speakers from all types of
business backgrounds in order to help cleaners find new ways to exceed their
bottom line expectations.
Some of the topics on the agenda will be immigration and employment law and the
future of the economy and the industry. All will be presented in a small group
format so attendees can get the most out of each session.
The headquarters hotel for the event will be the Royal Sonesta Hotel situated at
the epicenter of French Quarter nightlife.
DLI has negotiated a rate of $179 per night on rooms at the hotel. That special
rate carries over Saturday night so attendees can stay and enjoy an extra night
of the all-new New Orleans.

Rounding out the list of February 2008 getaways is the third annual Cleaners & Launderers Expo (CLEXPO), which will be held at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, GA.
The event will run from Feb. 22-24, 2008.
During the weekend, attendees can take a closer look at hundreds of exhibitors
showcasing new and innovative products and services in one convenient place.
Currently, FKDA is selling exhibit space at the following rates: $1,499 for one
booth (10
’ x 10’ in size), or four booths (400 sq. ft. altogether) at $5,900.
Corner booths are $1,299 each, and aisle booths cost $1,199 each or $11,770 for
ten booths that take up 1,000 sq. ft. overall.

Those who plan on attending the show should keep an eye out for pre-registration
forms in the near future.
Cleaners who sign up early will receive three days of free access to the exhibit
hall, as well as free admission to all of the educational seminars that will be
