Space- and cost-saving auto bagger
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — Sankosha U.S.A., Inc. has developed the PS-290U automatic bagging machine which is available at almost half the cost of previous models.
Consistent with the Sankosha product line, the PS-290U is efficient and easy to operate. When combined with an optional conveyor, the bagging machine outputs five orders per minute with three to four items per order — up to 280 bundles per hour.
This bagging machine is designed for easy integration into an existing production line. For space-savings, items can be loaded from either side of the PS-290U.
The unit measures 66.9" x 52.3" x 81.8" and weighs 726 pounds. It operates on 220-volt, three-phase power and requires 85 psi air pressure.

Detergent for DrySolv
Melrose Park, IL — DrySolv D, the first detergent designed specifically for the solvent DrySolv, is a concentrated detergent manufactured by Dry Cleaning Technologies, the makers of DrySolv.
Dry Cleaning Technologies’ chemists formulated a concentrated cationic injection detergent that uses the best features of DrySolv and the drycleaning process. DrySolv D is equipped with patented stabilizers that are specially formulated to condition DrySolv. The formulation also addresses tough cleaning problems to provide superior hand and feel, vivid colors, and bright whites.
The formulation enhances the DrySolv system of straight distillation with no filtration. DrySolv D, with the help of DrySolv, encapsulates particulates, carrying them away to the still while other components of DrySolv D will condition clothing. This is in addition to the patented additives that fortify the solvent.
The company reports that independent cleaning tests have shown DrySolv D to have superior cleaning performance compared to other detergents in use with DrySolv. Due to the concentrated nature of the detergent, a ratio of one ounce of detergent per 10 pounds of clothing is recommended.

PCI certification for credit card processing
DRAPER, UT — SPOT Business Systems has announced that both SPOT software and SPOT’s hosted data center now have PCI certification for credit card payment processing.
Mastercard and Visa have mandated that all credit card payment processing facilities and point-of-sale software be compliant to the new PCI certification standard that minimizes or eliminates the probability that customer credit card data can be compromised, resulting in fraudulent use of that customer data.
Non-compliance will result in total liability for all consequential damages in the event of a data breech that results in fraud.
SPOT has been updated to conform to all PCI requirements, including the new higher data encryption standard for storing Credit Card On File (CCOF) data.
In addition, SPOT’s hosted server farm has been PCI certified as has Payment Processing, Inc., (PPI), the Newark, CA, based payment processor that SPOT uses to send high-speed credit card transactions via the Internet.
PCI compliance involves quarterly certification audits by an outside consulting company approved by Mastercard/Visa. The company said that any drycleaner using SPOT software or the SPOT hosting facility is assured of full PCI compliance to the highest standard for credit card payment processing in the drycleaning industry.

Heat sealer for bar coding
WAUCHULA, FL — EzProducts has released its new patent-pending digital EzPress and digital PopUpPress which are designed specifically for drycleaners to apply permanent barcode labels to personal clothing.
Weighing 15 pounds, these small digital presses fit neatly on the counter. A computer controls the time and temperature and is calibrated to display the platen temperature at the label application surface with 1 ° accuracy. The computer has a self-test program that alerts the operator of a heater or computer malfunction.
An error detection feature alerts the operator of an improperly applied label and stores the error count in memory.
A supervisor can observe the error log at the push of a button. These errors include: short cycle, in which the operator lifted the handle and removed the hot platen from the garment before the pre-set application time hand elapsed; long cycle, in which the operator failed to lift the handle and remove the hot platen from the garment within 10 seconds of the buzzer sounding; cold cycle, in which the operator applied a label before the platen heated to the pre-set application temperature; and hot cycle, in which the operator applied a label when the platen was hotter than the pre-set application temperature. The pre-set application time, temperature and calibration data are encrypted to prevent operator tampering.
The digital EzPress and digital PopUpPress have several new platens designed for the needs of drycleaners. These include: a 1" high pressure mini platen for applying the tiny 1" x .25" barcode; 2" and 3" high pressure mini platens for applying EzProducts ’ TrackIt Labels to personal clothing; and a 15" digital standard platen for applying all labels, thermal transfers, emblems and mending patches.
The presses offer an optional heated lower platen for applying emblems and special labels that require heating the garment from both the top and the bottom.

Additive for heavy soils
TULSA, OK — Royaltone’s Soil Go Soil Release is a concentrated batch additive that eliminates prespotting, spraying, brushing and costly reruns on heavily soiled and stained items in drycleaning.
Soil Go removes heavy soil and ring type spots and stains in the drycleaning wheel with no prespotting or spraying and works with any detergent system in any drycleaning fluid.
Royaltone said the product will not build up, has no undesirable side effects and is color safe and swale-free for all cloth, suede and leather garments. It also has anti-static action to suppress static electric shock and linting.
Soil Go Soil Release is injected or added manually to the drycleaning wheel at full strength. It helps control moisture for brighter whites, rayons, linens, cottons and heavily soiled trench coats. Soil Go will also work on heavily soiled and stained suedes and leathers.
Compatible with both charge and injection detergents, it can be used in the first bath of a two-bath system.
Add one ounce of the concentrate to the cleaning wheel for each ten pounds of garments at the start of the cycle and run on batch for three to eight minutes before running on filter. Batch cleaning is automatic for the first bath of a two-bath system, but it can also be accomplished by filling the wheel to a low level, turning off the pump, then drycleaning for three to eight minutes with the dump valve closed.
