Royaltone sets 2008 slate of leather cleaning classes
If you are set up to clean regular garments, then you have the capabilities to
clean suedes and leathers, as well.
With the right training, cleaners can dryclean and wetclean suedes, leathers,
furs and fabric regardless of what equipment they use.
In 2008, the Royaltone Academy in Tulsa, OK, will be offering sessions of its
weekend leather cleaning classes in order to help cleaners make the jump to
leathers and suedes.
The school’s staff spends one day offering class instruction and another for hands-on
training in an in-plant atmosphere.
Before enrolling, however, students should already possess knowledge of how to
spot, clean and press cloth garments.
Upcoming course dates at the Royaltone Academy are Feb. 7 and 8, and Sept. 11
and 12.
Enrollment in the Academy is limited to seven plant owners and managers and is
filled on a first-come basis.
The cost for the two-day program is $400 per attendee with up to 50 percent
discounts for multiple attendees. The cost includes an instruction manual for
each student.
On the first day of the course, attendees will meet in the classroom from 8:30
to 11:30 a.m. for a tanning process slide presentation.
Other topics discussed will include: identification of skins; peculiarities of
suede and leather; acceptance techniques; invoice ticket preparation; spotting
techniques for drycleaning; charge levels and run times; and machine
configuration, among others.
After a lunch break, class will resume from noon to 3:30 p.m. when students will
learn about: spotting for wetcleaning methods; spray finishing; restoring
luster and color; and repelling and sizing. A final exam will be given at the
end of the day.
On the second day, class will meet once again from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This
time, however, attendees will apply what they learned in the classroom to a
hands-on session under supervised actual operating conditions.
To enroll, e-mail royaltone@royaltone.com or call (800) 331-5506. More
information is available on the Royaltone site at
www.royaltone.com.
