Multi-garment tensioning finisher
MAMARONECK, NY — Trevil America has introduced an upgraded version of its blouse/shirt/multi-garment tensioning form finisher, model 5029 Princess Ultra.

A patented dual, rotating front clamp system allows for pressing of wet and dry garments. When finishing a wet garment, an electrically heated front clamp presses the front placket at 80 PSI. A simple rotation of the clamp device switches to the unheated clamp which pushes forward at 30 PSI to avoid marks and impressions.
The change is automatic. There is no need to unplug, remove, and store the heated clamp while looking for, installing the unheated clamp, and adjusting the air pressure.
There are 10 available programs for various garments including wet, dry, and spandex. Tensioning parameter controls in the programs allow for setting of how much (if any) vertical tension is required. In addition, programs allow for deletion of various clamping operations as desired.
Rounded cuff clamps allow for high quality finishing of the cuff areas and pneumatic “joystick” controls allow for easy adjustment of the clamp position. Two foot pedals perform the same operations to allow for easy operation and operator comfort.

Pillow rejuvenation
BEAUFORT, SC — Harris Pillow Supply says that an average drycleaner can make $6 to $7 profit per pillow by refurbishing them with the company’s Pillow-Vac.
Over time, pillows tend to become flat and lose their bounce, regardless of the filling. Feathers

disintegrate, leaving dust. Most people who have allergies tend to think it is the feathers in the pillow that irritates them, but actually it is this dust.
The Pillow-Vac uses an ozone-emitting germicidal light to kill bacteria, sanitize and deodorize the filling. The old pillow is cut open and emptied into a tumble chamber which has rotating brushes that expose everything to germicidal lights while breaking up clumps that have formed. It fluffs up the down clusters, and sifts out the dust that has been trapped in the pillow.
If it's a feather and/or down pillow, more new filling is added to bring it back to the density of a new pillow.
At the end of the cycle all the filling is blown back into a new, 100 percent cotton feather and down-proof ticking. The entire process takes an average of three to four minutes per pillow.
The Pillow-Vac has a footprint 42"w x 32"d x 46"h and uses a standard 110 volt outlet for power.
Harris Pillow Supply provides all the types of filling and ticking with easy ordering and fast shipping. The company also provides posters, hanger tags, counter cards, statement stuffers and ad mats and offers digital artwork for ad creation.
The Pillow-Vac extends the life of an average pillow indefinitely, reducing a significant effect on area landfills. The ozone-emitting germicidal light, used to kill bacteria, sanitize and deodorize the filling, actually replenishes ozone.
Harris Pillow Supply was founded by William Harris in 1958 to renovate quality pillows for hotels, motels, hospitals and other multi-bed facilities including prisons, military bases and nursing homes. The business has grown to include moe 1,700 customers around the world.

Consumer education DVD
BOULDER, CO — A new DVD from Steve Boorstein, aka The Clothing Doctor, is titled Clothing Care: The Clothing Doctor’s Secrets to Taking Control!, is aimed at consumers, the drycleaner’s customers.
CareCover.jpg
This 110-minute DVD with 24 chapters and two bonus tracks teaches consumers about clothes shopping, washing, stain removal, closet care and storage.
Boostein believes that men and women  often need guidance and that they should turn to their knowledgeable drycleaner for advice. He shares insights on proper washing, bleaching and stain removal, advises on choosing a drycleaner and explains what goes on “behind the counter.”
He tells consumers not to use water or club soda on oily stains, why they should not wear dress shirts more than once and expect 100-percent soil removal, why they should not abuse clothing and expect miracles from their cleaner, and points out that 35 percent of all clothing ruined is ruined by consumers, not by drycleaners!
The DVD is available at wholesale prices for resale to customers at the counter.

Pet hair and lint remover
LAFAYETTE, IN — The Magic Fur Ball invented by drycleaner Ken Taylor removes allergens such as pet fur and hair, as well as lint, in a drying tumbler.

The Fur Ball creates a static charge that separates these materials from the fabric, lifts them into the air and into the lint trap. In the process, it also softens fabrics. Lifting and separating clothing also allows air to circulate more efficiently and throughout the dryer, which reduces drying time.
Taylor began working on his invention 10 years ago in the process of cleaning rags for veterinarians. After trying a number of remedies to remove the pet hair, including tennis balls wrapped with duct tape the wrong way out, he came came up the Magic Fur Ball, a rubber ball about 5 1⁄2 inches in diameter wrapped in black and red material of the type used on lint brushes.
He started out by having his seamstress make fur balls and, pleased with the results, started selling them to other drycleaners who also liked with the results.
The Magic Fur Ball is placed in the dryer with the timer set for five minutes less than normal. The Magic Fur Ball attracts pet hair, allergens and static from clothes and sends the debris into the lint trap.
A display that holds 64 of the items is also available for retail sales of the Magic Fur Balls.
