Casassa, Rowland elected

Two men have been elected to the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute’s board of directors to represent Districts 7 and 8in balloting by DLI members
this spring.
Tom Rowland of Colorado Mountain Cleaners in Silverthorne, Colorado, was elected
District 7 director and Bill Casassa of Marin Cleaners in San Rafael, CA, was
elected District 8 director.
Casassa is a third-generation cleaner who started working in the family business
while in high school and has been involved in the industry ever swince. He
served on the board of directors of the California Cleaners Association.
Marin County Cleaners was founded in 1950 and today operates a central cleaning
facility with 60 employees. The company has been voted "Best Cleaner in Marin" five times by the Pacific Sun newspaper and made the paper's "Best of Marin Hall
of Fame."
District 8 includes the states of California and Hawaii.
Rowland is a relative newcomer to the industry, having worked in investment real
estate for 32 years before opening Colorado Mountain Cleaners, a GreenEarth
plant, in 2004. Prior to opening the plant, he attended DLI’s General Drycleaning courses and after opening he joined the Rocky Mountain
Fabricare Association, joining the association’s board in 2005. He earned an environmental achievement award from the Colorado
Department of Public Health and Environment in 2004 and was named RMFA’s Drycleaner of the Year in 2005.
District 7 covers the states of Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana,
Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming and Washington.
Both will begin serving four-year terms at the summer DLI Board meeting in
Colorado Springs, CO.
