Royaltone has opened a new leather cleaning training plant in a free-standing building on Sheridan Road in Tulsa, OK, which many call Tulsa’s main street.

The new facility is a specialty plant devoted exclusively to the expert drycleaning, wetcleaning and finishing of suede, leather, fur and cloth trimmed with suede, leather or fur and has all of the equipment needed to accept, inspect, spot, dry clean, wet clean, press finish, spray finish, sew, mend, repair, package, store and sell these garments.

The plant contains a front counter for inspection and acceptance; a spotting board for spotting leather items for drycleaning or wetcleaning, a drycleaning machine charged with Royaltone Detergent Plus Conditioner, a wetcleaning machine and a wetcleaning dryer, which is used to tumble wetcleaned leathers before and after air drying.

The plant also has three hot head presses for pressing painted leathers, cuir savage leathers, naked skin leathers and suedes, especially the collars and lapels, and one hot head utility press with vacuum, one hot head topper press and one backup electric hot head press. There is also the hand iron for touch up work on leathers and linings.

Two steam air form finishers are available to finish suedes and naked leathers and to quickly dry rush wetcleaning jobs by blowing cool air through them.

Also, there is a spray booth with spray guns, filters and exhaust fan for spray finishing, including dyeing suedes, painting leathers and for rapidly applying other spray treatments.

Two sewing machines can sew through the thickest leathers, with a walking foot to prevent scuffing smooth leathers and a saddle stitch capability.

The equipment is completed with a boiler, air compressor and a vacuum.

Plant owners and managers who train at this new facility will be able to see and practice how to dryclean and wetclean their own suedes, leathers, furs and cloth trimmed with suede, leather and fur using their existing plants and equipment.
