For Savannah show, SEFA plans a bit of everything
The South Eastern Fabricare Association has put together an educational program
that covers a little of everything for its 2008 Southern Drycleaners Show.
The event, scheduled for July 26 and 27, will be held at the Savannah
International Trade and Convention Center.
Headlining this year’s programs will be several drycleaning experts who hope to help attendees
improve their management skills, cut costs, make less mistakes, and, in the
process make more money.
The seminars will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning with “Energy Cost and Deregulation” by Steve Wise.
An hour later, DLI Garment Analyst Chris Allsbrooks will bring her body of
knowledge and trademark smile to an hour-long presentation on “Common Mistakes that Drycleaners Make and How to Avoid Them.”
At 11 a.m. in the demo area of the exhibit hall, Martin Young of Young’s Cleaners will offer instruction “Stain Removal.” He will return on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. for a second round of
discussions, this time taking on the topic of “Wetcleaning Techniques.”
Also in the exhibit hall demo area on Saturday, “Cowboy Cleaner” and industry consultant Kenney Slatten will walk attendees through “Inspection Techniques in Drycleaning and Quality Control.”
More topics are lined up for Sunday morning, starting with an examination of how
to “Reduce Energy Cost through Proper Maintenance” by Jim Goulet, long-time service manager of Steiner-Atlantic. He will speak
from 8 to 10 a.m.
Slatten will make return to the demo area in the exhibit hall to discuss “Crisis Management” with cleaners from 11 a.m. until noon.
Rounding out the topics in the demo area will be a program by Frank Briercheck
on “Packaging for Profit” from 1 to 2 p.m.
When not attending the educational sessions, cleaners will want to head to the
browse the exhibit’s displays of all the latest equipment and services the industry has to offer.
Exhibit hours will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m .on Saturday, and from 10
a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
There will be some time allotted for social events and networking, as well.
SEFA will host a cash bar with hors d’ oeuvres poolside at the Westin Savannah Harbor at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
From 5 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, cleaners can enjoy an open bar reception in the
convention hall atrium.
The cost for the show is only $10 for those who pre-register. The price goes up
to $15 for those who sign up on-site. Non-exhibiting allied trades must pay $50
to attend.
Attendees will have a couple of choices for lodging. To make reservations at the
