National Seminars Group offers workshops in Texas
There are issues all small business owners face, regardless of the industry they
are in. With that in mind, the National Seminars Group is offering a several
workshops designed to help entrepreneurs become more successful.
On Friday, Aug. 1, the group will offer a session on “How to Handle Conflict and Confrontation” at the Doubletree Guest Suites at 303 W. 15th St. in Austin.
Whether it’s due to irate customers or dissatisfied employees, unresolved conflict can be
costly. During this program, attendees will learn how to master the art of
managing conflict, leading to more cooperation from others and stronger working
relationships, not to mention, much less stress. The cost to attend is $199.
Also coming up is a program on “The Basics of Knock-Your-Socks-Off Customer Service” on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
It will take place at the Westin Park Central in Dallas, located at 12720 Merit
Dr. The cost of tuition is $169.
Those who enroll will learn how to build the mental and emotional strength to
weather customer criticism without losing their focus on delivering quality
service. By defusing tense situations properly, CSRs can turn complaining
customers into company advocates.
Also in Dallas will be an upcoming workshop on “Strengthening Your People Skills in the Workplace” on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The cost is $179 per person.
It will be held at the Radisson East Dallas located at 11350 LBJ Fwy at Jupiter.
During the day, attendees will gain the essential skills needed for
understanding, relating to, and working better with all types of people, even
the most difficult.
All program will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Registration begins on
location at 8:30 p.m.
International Textile Center changes name
The International Textile Center — where the Southwest Drycleaners Association hosts its drycleaning courses — recently changed its name to the Fiber and Biopolymer Research Institute
(FBRI).
Located on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, the school will host
one basic stain removal and one advanced course taught by Jane Zellers in
November.
“The name was chosen to better communicate our research mission,” said Dr. M. Dean Ethridge, FBRI’s managing director. “Our efforts to enhance the economic value of cotton as an industrial raw
material have increasingly involved research at the structural and molecular
levels. From a structural/molecular viewpoint, cotton is an iconic example of a
biopolymer. We believe that the decisive technological advances of the future
will come from such research and we are determined to help achieve
breakthroughs that will secure cotton’s future as a dominant global fiber, as well as Texas’ position as a major supplier to the global market.”
Along with the name change, FBRI has also changed phone numbers. Personnel can
now be reached at (806) 742-5333 or faxed at (806) 743-5343.
