The programs will kick off on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. with one by Barbara Harvey, the first woman to become president of the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute.
She aims to help attendees “Get the Right Resources” in order to maintain a successful business. Harvey is the owner of Fabricare By Fran, a thriving cleaning business in Severna Park, MD.
After that session, keynote speaker Trudy Adams will take the podium for a seminar entitled “WOW Your Customers.”
Adams is the director of customer service and sales at Cleaners Supply. She is a well-known industry speaker lauded for her dynamic delivery. Her program should conclude by approximately 11 a.m.
On Sunday morning, former PDCA President Joe Schmidt will start the day with an interactive breakfast program at 9 a.m. that examines how to “Cut Your Expenses in Today’s Environment.”
Schmidt, aka Joe The Handyman, will share some of his experience in equipment maintenance so attendees can learn how to maintain high production quality and productivity.
Also on Sunday, North Carolina Association of Launders and Cleaners Executive Director Sto Fox is scheduled to present “Boosting Profits: I Did It and So Can You.”
Fox, who owns Fox Cleaners in Greensboro, NC, will divulge some of the ideas and techniques he used to boost his own plant’s profits this year, making it one of the most successful ones in his family business’s history.
In addition to the seminars, PDCA also plans to have an impressive exhibit hall full of all the latest technology and services for the cleaning industry.
So far, over 170 booths have been reserved. The exhibit hall will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
PDCA also plans to host networking and social activities throughout the weekend, including a welcome reception on Friday evening and the association’s traditional elegant cocktail party on Saturday.
Members of PDCA receive free admission to all activities at Expo 2008.
The event will be held at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center.
Discounted room rates are available to convention-goers at a cost of $161 per night for single or double occupancy by Sept. 22.
