WFI takes fall conference to Kalahari Resort
The Wisconsin Fabricare Institute has planned a fully loaded schedule for its
annual fall conference in the Wisconsin Dells.
The event will be held from Sept. 12-14 at the Kalahari Resort, one of the
largest water parks in the entire country.
In fact, attendees may consider bringing the whole family as passes to the water
park are included in the room reservation. For reservations, contact the
Kalahari Resort at (877) 253-5466.
Those who aren’t fond of diving into the water may trade their swim trunks in for a bag of
clubs and participate in the association’s golf outing on Saturday afternoon at 11:30 a.m.
Those who sign up will tee off at the Reedsburg Country Club, a historic course
that was built in 1924. Golf registration is $60.
Of course, the entire weekend will not be devoted to fun and games. WFI will
host a board of directors meeting Friday evening, before kicking off the
business sessions during the following morning.
At 9 a.m., Melanie Platt-Gibson, director of marketing and communication for the
Dells Visitor and Convention Bureau, will present a seminar entitled “Look Behind the Scenes of the Wisconsin Dells.”
Afterward, Michelle Dhein of the Tom James Company — a custom clothier — will discuss the “Fabrics of Fall.”
On Sunday, the educational lineup will resume after WFI’s General Membership Meeting at 9 a.m.
Then, marketing specialist Steve Robinson will present “The Power of E-Mail Marketing” from 9:15 to 11:45 a.m. Robinson is the regional development director for the
Chicago office of Constant Contract, a provider of e-mail marketing and online
surveys.
The final seminar will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and will focus on “Marketing Your Business Through Internet Marketing.”
The program speaker will be Shane Fell, who serves as vice president of sales
and marketing for Top Floor Technologies, an internet marketing firm
headquartered in New Berlin, WI.
Full conference registration starts at $175 for members and $150 for spouses.
The cost includes admittance to all seminars, as well as a safari-themed buffet
on Friday evening and a Saturday night banquet.
For more information, contact WFI by calling (414) 529-4707 or visit the
association’s web site at www.wiscleaners.com.
Kay offers equipment open house
Live equipment demonstrations of Ipura drycleaning, Sankosha finishing and
Unimac laundry equipment will highlight an open house at Kay Equipment Co. in
South Bend, IN.
The event will take place from Nov. 7-9. Other machinery present will include
Iowa Techniques specialty equipment and Thermosteam boilers, hot water and air
systems.
In addition to the exhibitions and demonstrations, Kay will also present
seminars on alternative solvents, energy-saving technologies, tensioning
equipment, boilers and steam systems and maintenance and service.
Door prizes will also be awarded.
Sanitone plans fall seminars and golf outing
Sanitone will present a full day-and-a-half of seminars for its licensees on
Sept. 19 and 20 at the Hilton Netherlands Plaza in Cincinatti, OH.
The speakers will include: Kim Robinson, founder of SMMarT Consulting Group, a
marketing and sales training company; James Peuster, The Route Pro who writes
for National Clothesline when he isn’t working as a route trainer and consultant; and Amy Kahn of the Advantage
Performance Group, which focuses on helping organizations maximize their ROP
(Return on People).
The seminars will cover strategies for growth, efficient energy-saving
solutions, advertising ideas, route and customer service tips, using e-mail
effectively, dealing with the new generation employee, and marketing
strategies.
Seminars will take place on Friday and Saturday. Those who arrive a day early
can participate on a golf outing or a plant tour of Widmer’s Cleaners on Sept. 18.
