NCALC plans meetings to hear cleaners’ issues
In an effort to reach out to members and non-members alike, the North Carolina
Association of Cleaners and Launderers will host a trio of upcoming meetings
throughout the state.
This tradition, which has been around since the mid-1990s, enables the
association to network with fellow cleaners and keep informed on important
industry issues.
There certainly is no shortage of issues to discuss this year. Cleaners who are
concerned about everything from the economy to the status of the state’s Drycleaning Solvent Cleanup Act program will have the opportunity to voice
their opinions.
During two of the meetings, cleaners will also have a chance to see impressive
drycleaning technology firsthand.
The two meetings will be hosted at automated production facilities that use heat
seal permanent bar code marking, automatic assembly, bagging, sorting, finished
order storage and delivery driven by a POS System to save labor and eliminate
errors.
Additionally, the plants utilize the latest innovations in finishing equipment:
tensioning toppers, form finishers and shirt units.
The first meeting will be held on Saturday, April 4 at Brother’s Cleaners, located at 5020 Atlantic Ave. in Raleigh. It will be sponsored by
ATC Associates.
The second will be held on Saturday, May 12 at Jones Cleaners, located at 1601
E. 4th St. in Charlotte. It will be sponsored by URS Corporation.
Both meetings will begin at 10 a.m. with an hour-long meet and greet over coffee
and donuts. At 11 a.m., cleaners will enjoy a plant tour before breaking off
for a half hour lunch.
Afterward, NCALC will give a briefing and open the floor for cleaners between
12:30 and 2 p.m.
The third meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28 at the Sagebrush
Steakhouse, which is at 101 Steakhouse Rd. in Morgantown.
Take Exit 105/Hwy 18 off I-401st Drive. It is on the left across from Holiday
Inn.
After an hour of social time, attendees will be responsible for paying for their
own dinners at 7 p.m. Then, NCALC will open the floor for discussion from 7:30
to 9 p.m.
Those who plan to attend should notify the NCALC office by e-mailing ncalc@ncalc.org or calling them directly at (336) 389-9011.

offerings at its New York School of Drycleaning, the association often branches
out to present outreach seminars all over the country.
The association will host one such program on Sunday, May 31 in Lake Worth, FL.
On that date, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about “Technical Training at the Counter for Customer Service Representatives.”
The one-day program will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m.
The cost to attend is $250 for association members and $275 for non-members.
