Sky Radio broadcasts DLI pitch
The Drycleaning & Laundry Institute secured a message for an audience of millions through Sky Radio, the audio in-flight entertainment a number of airlines, including United, American, Delta, Northwest, US Airways, and America West.
Sky Radio interviewed DLI CEO Bill Fisher for an exclusive news report on how DLI member cleaners, and Award of Excellence drycleaners are a cut above the rest.
“Being in business means business attire. The need for business attire means you’re going to have an ongoing relationship with a drycleaner,” so begins the Sky Radio report.
“When you choose those who will work with you towards success, you want to work with the best and our next guest is here to talk about the highest standards of quality in this particular arena.”
The anchor then introduced Fisher before beginning a discussion on how consumers can locate a good cleaner.
Fisher conducted the interview with Sky Radio on-air personalities earlier this year. The opportunity allowed him to stress the importance of locating a cleaner who has demonstrated a commitment to quality. Such a commitment is evidenced by membership in DLI or participation in the Award of Excellence Program.
“We were able to give recognition to all our members in the interview,” Fisher said.
He described the levels of quality commitment as a pyramid.
“First there are regular, average cleaners at the bottom. Then there are fewer cleaners who want access to information and technical support so they join an association such as DLI. After that you have the cleaners who continue their education and earn certificates and awards. At the top you have cleaners who have demonstrated, through testing and strict adherence to quality and service standards, that they are the best, and that’s the Award of Excellence tier.”
The news segment clocks in at about three minutes on Sky Radio’s Associations At Work channel. The channel regularly interviews big names in business, politics, and industry. Besides Fisher, other recent guests include Sarah Palin, Lee Iacocca, Intel Chairman Andy Grove, Kinko’s founder Paul Orfalea, and Adam Burke, senior vice president of Hilton HHonors.
