NCA plans busy summer slate for NY School
The National Cleaners Association has been training students for over half a century at the association’s New York School, which is licensed by the NYS Department of Education. It iss
located in New York’s Fashion District at 254 W. 29th St.
Next up on NCA’s schedule are two eight-hour classes on “Extreme Stain Removal” planned in June.
The first will be held on Sunday, June 7; one in Korean will be held on Sunday,
June 14.
Also in June, NCA will host an eight-hour course on “Intensive Inspection and Innovative Packaging” on Sunday, June 28.
The association has planned another eight-hour course on Sunday, July 19. It
will cover the topic of “Technical Training at the Counters for Customer Service Reps.”
All of the eight-hour courses will meet from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. The cost for
each one is $250 for members and $275 for non-members.
Later in July, NCA will present its two-day, 16-hour course on DEC Certification
in Korean. The class will meet on consecutive Sundays, July 26 and Aug. 2.
Another class in English will be held on Oct. 4 and 11.
Students will meet from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuition is $795 for members and
$1,295 for non-members.
For those seeking a more comprehensive educational topic, NCA will hold a
five-day class on “Radical Drycleaning/Stain Removal” from Aug. 10 to 14.
The class meets from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for a total of 40
class hours. The cost is $750 for members and $995 for non-members.
Starting in September, the association will host a three-day, 24-hour class on “Basic Pressing and Finishing.” The class will meet from Friday to Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
A version in Korean will be held from Sept. 11 to 13; an English class is set
from Oct. 2 to 4. Both will cost $455 for members and $595 for non-members.
NCA will also offer one of its signature courses starting on Sept. 14. “Principles and Practices of Pressing” meets from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday for four consecutive
weeks. Tuition is $380 per person.
Starting in late October, NCA will host an offering of its ten-week “Principles and Practices of Drycleaning” course that meets for 80 hours in all.
From Oct. 26 to Dec. 30, students will meet from 7 to 11 p.m. on Monday and
Wednesday evenings. The cost for the course is $970 per person.
In addition to its classroom teachings, NCA will continue to offer webinars for
cleaners who lack the time to attend the New York School of Drycleaning.
Webinars meet at 6 p.m. EST on designated Wednesdays throughout the year. The
cost for telephone and web-based participation is $69. That price includes an
audio tape of the seminar for everyone and Power Point files for web-based
participants.
Upcoming webinar topics and dates include: “Lost Art of Hand Finishing” by Alan Spielvogel on June 17; “Workplace Harassment” by attorney Steve Morelli on July 15; and “E-mail Marketing/E-newsletters: Create Deeper Relationships and Earn More
Dollars” on Aug. 19.
