SEFA hires ‘virtual assistant’
Following the retirement of executive director Barry McElveen, the South Eastern Fabricare Association has decided that Lynn Daley, who has been executive assistant for the
association for the past eight years, will handle office duties as a “virtual assistant.”
“A virtual assistant is much like a secretary, office administrator and executive
assistant all rolled into one,” according to the May issue of SEFA’s Reclaimer. “The main difference is that a VA works on an as-needed basis and out of their
own fully equipped office.”
In addition to having served as SEFA’s executive assistant, Daley has owned her own virtual assistant business for
the past six years. She will continue to be available to help members as in the
past; the only change will be her mailing address: 221 Southern Charm Way,
Gurton, GA 31312.
All other contact information will remain the same. The toll-free number is
(877) 707-7332 and Daley’s e-mail address is lynn@sefa.org.
McElveen, who served on SEFA’s board for 12 years in addition to his eight years as the association’s executive director, was elected director emeritus at the recent SEFA board
meeting. Also accorded that status at the board meeting was Gary Dawson of
Florida, a past director of SEFA and past president of the Drycleaning & Laundry Institute.
Elected to serve as SEFA president for 2009-2010 was Steve Chambers of Georgia.
Julia Campbell will serve as secretary and Perry Bullard as treasurer.
FRSteam adds new facility in Jacksonville
FRSTeam has entered the Jacksonville, FL, market with a new independently owned
and operated cleaning facility.
The Jacksonville location will help the company to manage its post-hurricane
work throughout Florida as well as meet the demand for its fabric restoration
cleaning services from insurers in the northeast region of the state.
With its propensity for insurance claims and hurricane-related losses, the state
of Florida is one of the largest and most important regions for FRSTeam, the
national fabric restoration specialty cleaning franchisor.
The new Jacksonville location is owned by Jacqui Schaefer, who also owns and
oversees the FRSTeam facility in Madison Heights, MI. Since the northeast
Florida region is historically less likely to be hit by severe storms, the
Jacksonville location can serve as staging area for the company in the
aftermath of hurricanes in other parts of the state.
FRSTeam now provides restoration cleaning services throughout the state with
existing facilities in Miami, St. Petersburg, Orlando and Alabama, which serves
the Florida Panhandle.
“We are very excited to open the new location in Jacksonville as part of the
FRSTeam network of fabric and fire restoration cleaners serving the needs of
the insurance industry and loss mitigation contractors throughout the country,” said Schaefer. “Our experience in restoration cleaning since 1994 as well as with FRSTeam during
the last several years will enable us to quickly begin providing important
restoration cleaning services for residents and businesses throughout northeast
Florida.”
FRSTeam also announced that its insurance claims and construction industry
clients in the state will soon have a single point of contact for all of their
fabric restoration jobs statewide.
“FRSTeam is providing insurance claims adjusters and loss/damage mitigation
specialty contractors throughout the state with a convenient and exclusive
means to manage all jobs in Florida,” said Mark D. Mills, the FRSTeam independent licensed franchisee serving South
Florida. “Our new statewide coverage will make working with FRSTeam easier and more
efficient for our Florida clients, especially after major storms when the
increased workloads could otherwise become difficult to manage.”
With the addition of the Jacksonville location, FRSTeam now offers fabric
restoration services in 34 states across the continental United States. The
company signed its first independent licensed operator in August 2006 and has a
network of 29 independent licensed businesses in addition to its seven
company-owned locations throughout the country.
FRSTeam also maintains an operator in Ontario, Canada, as well as an affiliate
relationship with Johnsons Fabric Restoration Services, the largest restoration
cleaner in the United Kingdom.
A few FRSTeam license opportunities remain in some parts of the United States
and Canada. Additional information is available by calling (510) 723-1008 or visiting www.FRSTeam.com.
