Two individuals and two companies were recognized at the Clean Show with Meritorious Service Awards by the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute.
The awards have been presented at each Clean show since 1999 to honor individuals and organizations for exceptional contributions to the industry in several areas.
Dale Kaplan of Kaplan’s Careful Cleaners became the first two-time winner of an award, receiving the Legislative-Regulatory Award for his continuing work in the regulatory arena and especially for efforts this year in dealing with a proposed ban of perc in the city of Philadelphia. Testifying to his ongoing commitment in this area, Kaplan previously received the award in 2003.
James Peuster, a route consultant and columnist for
National Clothesline, received the Commitment to Professionalism award. DLI said he “takes routes to a new level by teaching how to sell, how to read potential customers and how to come away with the sale.”
The Technology Trailblazer award went to Solvair for its development of “a viable drycleaning technology” which has been implemented in several drycleaning plants around the country in the past two years.
Anton’s Cleaners of Tewksbury, MA, received the Industry Positive Recognition Award for its coat and prom dress drives. In 14 years of coat drives, Anton’s has collected and distributed over a half-million coats in a partnership with other local businesses and organizations. Five years ago the company started a Belle of the Ball program in which more than 17,000 prom dresses have been collected and distributed.
