Lawton Jones to be next TCATA president
Lawton Jones of Phenix Supply Company, Atlanta, GA, was elected president-elect
of the Textile Care Allied Trades Association (TCATA) at the association’s recent annual conference in the Bahamas.
His two-year term as president will begin in May, 2010. He and his wife, Laura,
have three children.
Other officers elected at the conference were Phil Hart of Kannegiesser USA,
Grand Prairie, TX, secretary-treasurer-elect; Fred Schwarzmann, A.L. Wilson
Chemical, Kearny, NJ, vice president of the Supply Manufacturers Group; Bryant
Dunivan, Energenics Corp., Naples, FL, vice president of the Machinery
Manufacturers Group; and Jones of Phenix Supply Co. as vice president of the
Distributors Group. They were each elected to one-year terms.
TCATA also announced election results for its board of directors.
Dunivan, Hart and Ed Kirejczyk III of The EDRO Corporation in East Berlin, CT,
were elected to two-year terms on the board of directors to represent the
Machinery Manufacturers Group.
Schwarzmann and Kevin Weir of Liberty-Pittsburgh Systems in Pittsburgh, PA, were
elected to two-year terms to represent the Supply Manufacturers Group.
D’Arcy McConvey of Dalex Canada, Inc., Concord, ON, and Kevin Lawson of Tri-State
Laundry Equipment Co., Kernersville, NC, were elected to two-year terms to
represent the Machinery Distributors Group.
Jeff Allen of the E. J. Thomas Company in Columbus, OH, was elected to a
two-year terms to represent the Supply Distributors Group.
Leslie Schaeffer of National Clothesline in Willow Grove, PA, was elected to
represent the Trade Journal Group.
Scholarship award
Susan Brueggemann of Sullivan, MO, was selected as the recipient of TCATA’s 2009 Dean Allen Education Scholarship. She will receive $1,000 for college
tuition for the next four years.
Brueggemann has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school and is ranked first
in her class. She was recently named to the Missouri Scholars 100 which
recognizes the top 100 scholars in the state.
In addition to her academic accomplishments, she was an all-star track athlete,
a member of the band and served as class treasurer.
The daughter of William Evans, an employee of Gurtler Industries in South
Holland, IL, Brueggemann plans to attend the University of Missouri.
Employees and the children of employees of companies who are members of TCATA
are eligible for this scholarship.
FRSTeam awards Crescent Restoration
FRSTeam by Crescent Restoration, a Tennessee-licensed business that is owned and
managed by Russ Jacobs, received the FRSTeam Licensee Leader Award, the company’s highest honor, at FRSTeam’s “Restoration Retreat” this spring.
The Brand Champion Awards were presented to Jacqui Schaefer of FRSTeam by
Recovery Cleaners in Michigan and Mitchell Rogers of FRSTeam by Rogers in
Florida.
The company’s Top Sales Leader Award went to Don Canzoneri of FRSTeam by West Covina in
California, and the Top Sales Growth Award was presented to FRSTeam of North
and Central Georgia, owned by Ron Patrie.
“We set the bar very high for FRSTeam licensees, and these awards enable us to
recognize the operators that achieve outstanding results and stand out above
the rest,” said Jim Nicholas, president of FRSTeam. “We are pleased to congratulate all of the winners for 2008.”
FRSTeam offers fabric restoration services in 35 states across the continental
United States. The company signed its first independent licensed operator in
August, 2006, and now has 39 locations throughout the country. FRSTeam
licensees have experienced an average growth rate of more than 20 percent per
year on their restoration work subsequent to joining FRSTeam, the company said.
In addition to operators in the United States, FRSTeam maintains an operator in
Ontario, Canada, as well as an affiliate relationship with Johnsons Fabric
Restoration Services, the largest restoration cleaner in the United Kingdom.
Hercules to distribute Maytag
Hercules Corp. of Hicksville, NY, is now a distributor for Maytag Commercial Laundry for
on-premise and coin-operated laundries, hotel and motel guest laundries, health
clubs and spas, and other businesses requiring laundry services in Westchester,
Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Dutchess and Ulster counties.
