CRDN sponsors national golf tourney with Texas finale
The Certified Restoration Drycleaning Network (CRDN) has signed on as a major
sponsor of the Collegiate Players Tour, a summer-long golf competition for
college-age men and women that will culminate with the national championship in
the Dallas/Fort Worth area August 10-13.
CRDN’s sponsorship includes national financial support as well as local involvement
in eight states from Oklahoma to Ohio and Pennsylvania, and New York to Texas
and Louisiana.
“The Collegiate Players Tour sincerely appreciates the support and involvement of
CRDN,” said Barry Rodenhaver, executive director of the CPT. “With organizations like CRDN stepping up and sponsoring our tour, we are looking
forward to providing a competitive and rewarding tour for these young people,
as well as support for area non-profits.
Rodenhaver noted that over the years, the tour has raised more than $1.5 million
for local charities.
“We are pleased to support these young men and women who excel as students and as
athletes,” said Chip Bifano, CRDN’s President. “We also are very proud of our local partners who have committed to being
involved with the events in their communities,” Bifano added.
While the objective of the CPT is to provide experience and generate confidence
among college players, at least eight CPT participants have gone on to play on
the pro tour.
More than 350 colleges and universities are represented at the CPT each year. Starting its 16th year, the tour is sanctioned by the Golf Coaches Association
of America and the National Golf Coaches Association.
Zellers to lead SDA courses in November
The Southwest Drycleaners Association will present two stain removal seminars
later this year: one will be a basic course and another will be for more
advanced cleaners.
The basic course is slated to take place from Nov. 9-11. Class will meet from
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. the first two days and from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the
third.
The two-and-a-half day course will look at proper stain removal techniques with
an emphasis on dyes, pigments, prints and finishes. Attendees will also learn
about the proper use of stain removal tools.
The cost for the course is $335 for SDA members and $405 for other DLI members.
Non-members must pay $470 each.
Those who complete that course, or cleaners with a few years experience, will be
eligible for the advanced course from Nov. 11-13.
The class will meet from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on
Thursday and 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
The advanced course will focus on more advanced stain removal techniques,
including fiber content, weaves, garment construction and how to test fiber
content by burn testing.
The cost is $325 for SDA members and $390 for other DLI members. Non-members
must pay $455 each.
Both courses will be taught by instructor Jane Zellers.
