Courses aplenty offered in New York by NCA
Cleaners who want to refine their skills and sharpen their industry knowledge
will have no shortage of options in the coming months as the National Cleaners
Association offers classes in New York City for drycleaners of all levels.
The association’s New York School of Drycleaning, located at 254 W. 29th St., has been training
cleaners for over a half century altogether.
First up on the schedule is a one-day course on “Intensive Inspection and Innovative Packaging.” The program will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9.
The cost is $250 for members and $275 for non-members.
Also around that time, NCA has planned its five-day program on “Radical Drycleaning/Stain Removal” from Aug. 10 to 14.
Those who sign up will attend from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Tuition is $750 for members and $995 for non-members.
Cleaners who want to brush up on their “Basic Pressing and Finishing” skills will have two upcoming opportunities.
A class in Korean will be presented all day from Sept. 11 to 13; a session in
English is scheduled for Oct. 2 to 4. The cost for either program is $455 for
members and $595 for non-members.
Also in September, NCA will offer its in-depth session on “Principles and Practices of Pressing” that runs for four weeks. Students meet from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Monday
and Wednesday between Sept. 14 and Oct. 7.
The cost for the course is $380 per person.
Next up is an eight-hour course on “Intensive Bleaching” that takes place on Sunday, Sept. 20. Members pay $250 and non-members pay
$275.
Cleaners who need to update their D.E.C. certification status will have one more
opportunity this year. The two-day class will meet on consecutive Sundays: Oct.
4 and 11.
The class will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude about 6 p.m. The cost is $795 for
members and $1,295 for non-members.
Also this Fall, Korean cleaners will have a chance to hone their education with
NCA’s ten-week Comprehensive Drycleaning program.
Those who attend will be in class from 7 to 11 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday
evening between the dates of Oct. 6 and Dec. 15. Tuition for the class is $970
for members and $1,170 for non-members.
October will be a busy month for the association as it also plans to host its
TexCare 2009 show at the Meadowlands Convention and Exposition Center in
Secaucus, NJ.
The event will be held on the weekend of Oct. 17 and 18. Just prior to that, NCA
will has scheduled a one-day seminar on delivery routes for Friday, Oct. 16. It
will meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and cost $595 per person.
For cleaners who like live seminars put dislike travel, NCA also offers its
webinar series on designated Wednesdays throughout the year.
The seminars start at 6 p.m. EST on their given date and cost only $69 for
telephone and Web-based participation.
Upcoming dates and topics include: “E-Mail Marketing/E-News Letters” on Aug. 18 and “Break Out of the Box: There Are New Sources of Revenue” on Sept. 16.
