SEFA to present Peuster on routes
The South Eastern Fabricare Association has released its upcoming educational and event schedule, and many of the programs will focus on a wide variety of topics, including: pickup and delivery routes, plant maintenance, laundry shirts and drycleaning 101.
Just around the corner is a session on Saturday, Aug. 29 by James Peuster, a leading industry consultant in the drycleaning industry who writes a column every month for National Clothesline.
More recently, the man often dubbed as “The Route Pro” was the recipient of the 2009 Commitment to Professionalism Award presented by the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute during Clean ’09 in New Orleans.
During the Clean Show, Peuster also delivered a funny and frenetic presentation on pickup and delivery routes that drew a packed house in the seminar hall.
“People who go door-to-door or network, they’re stealing customers,” he noted. “We’re not inventing drycleaning customers. People give up loyalty for convenience all the time.”
He will deliver many more of his insights and advice on the subject during the program sponsored by SEFA in August.
It will be held from 12:30 to 5 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Buckhead, which is located at 3285 Peachtree Rd. in Atlanta, GA.
Peuster will reveal his secrets on what are the best ways to set up a route sales service. He will also emphasize strategies that will help cleaners sell to new customers and build value with existing ones.
The cost for registration is $49 for SEFA/DLI members and $99 for non-members. Lunch will not be provided.
Later in the year, SEFA will offer a “Drycleaning 101” seminar in Mobile, AL.
The program will take place on Saturday, Nov. 21 and will be taught by instructor Jim Groshans, who serves as one of SEFA’s at-large directors on the board and also works as the eastern division sales manager for R.R. Street.
More details will be made available at a later date.
In early 2010, the association plans to enlist instructor Jim Goulet for a program on “Plant Maintenance” that will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16. The program will be in Columbia, SC.
SEFA will next host an educational session on “Laundry Shirts” on Saturday, Feb. 20 in Tampa, FL.
It will be taught by Jane Zellers, CED, a popular consultant and lecturer, as well as a former drycleaning plant owner.
Coming from a three-generation drycleaning family, she accrued experience in customer service, knowledge of fabrics, stain removal and all other aspects of the business.
Also in 2010, SEFA has drawn up early plans for its 2010 Southern Drycleaners Show. It will be held on the weekend of July 17 and 18 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, FL.
To register for any of SEFA’s upcoming events, contact the association’s office at (877) 707-7332. Registration is also available online at www.sefa.org in the “Events/Seminars” section.
